UK - 'Predatory' 13 Year Old...

The Crown Prosecution Service has criticised a barrister acting on its behalf for describing a 13-year-old sex abuse victim in court as "predatory".

Robert Colover also called the girl "sexually experienced". The CPS said his language had been "inappropriate".

Neil Wilson, 41, admitted abusing the girl at his home in Romford, London, and was given a suspended jail term.

This 41 year old man knowingly bombarded a thirteen year old with text messages for two weeks to get her to come over to his house, and was found with child porn on his computer. And the prosecutor, (the freaking prosecutor, not the defense attorney), describes the thirteen year old as predatory!! Here's the full quote...

"There was sexual activity but it was not of Mr Wilson's doing. You might say it was forced upon him despite being older and stronger than her.

Mr Colover, who was representing the CPS at Wilson's sentencing hearing at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, said: "The girl is predatory in all her actions and she is sexually experienced."

I was outraged til I read the article. Now I wonder if the attorney was trying to convey how this child has been affected by this abuse. ie. now she is predatory and sexually acting out.

Hard to know without knowing in what context the statement was made.

Wow. I bet his momma is real proud.

Yup, no words for how sick-making this is. Man needs a good kick up the jaxie.

    To start with.

The "it was not of Mr. Wilson's doing" is just bad, bad, bad lawyering. The end.

He wasn't trying to convey how she had been affected by this abuse - he doesn't even consider it to be abuse. That's why he said this...

"There was sexual activity but it was not of Mr Wilson's doing. You might say it was forced upon him despite being older and stronger than her.

He's clearly describing the girl's role in the abuse as the predatory party.

    Some sanity prevails...

A barrister who described a 13-year-old victim of sex abuse as "predatory" in court has been suspended from sexual offence cases pending a review.

Robert Colover has been criticised for his remarks, in which he also described the girl as "sexually experienced".

The Crown Prosecution Service said he would not be instructed in sex cases while it considered his situation.

The Attorney General's Office is also reviewing the sentence to see if they should appeal it as too lenient.

Did you notice that the CPS is The Crown Prosecution Service and not what it usually means on WS?
