Fears growing for missing RAF serviceman who vanished after night out

28 September 2016

Concerns were growing today for the safety of a young military [service]man who vanished after a night out and may have tried to walk eight miles back to his base.

[...]

Camera operators saw him getting up and walking off - but he failed to return to Honington, the headquarters of the RAF Force Protection who guard UK military installations around the world.

Despite an appeal to motorists, villagers along the serviceman’s route and a search by the Suffolk police helicopter there has been no trace of him.

Corrie is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, medium build, with short light brown hair. He was wearing a light-pink polo shirt and white jeans when last seen.

VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to the family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, and others who have not been designated as suspects is not allowed. Don't make random accusations, suggest their involvement, nor bash and attack them. Posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public -- is not allowed. That does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media.

Please Note:

Corrie's family members fall into the above "victim friendly" category. You may not suggest or imply that any family member has knowledge of, or is involved in his disappearance. ZERO TOLERANCE.

Please be sure you're familiar with Websleuths' rules. It is your responsibility to know them.

All previous mod and admin reminders still stand.

Fresh thread folks. Can we skim it back to the bare facts & focus on those? The last thread made my head hurt.

Midsummer, level it for us here... facts & possibilities... [emoji1303]

Just like to say, I think its odd he was never reported AWOL, as the process is; report AWOL first and then go to Missing etc. O find this odd that he has never been reported AWOL. It screams to me something was known right away.

You cant just decide to not report him as AWOL based on his work ethic or it being out of character.

In the military, if you dont show for work, your AWOL 1st.

Slightly OT as far as genuine sleuthing goes but I've just been reading about the 'wisdom of crowds' https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wisdom_of_Crowds

one of the criteria for creating a 'wise' crowd is local knowledge. It struck me on reading back during the last thread that it seems like it's mainly local people or people like me who have first hand knowledge of the area are leaning towards misadventure on the walk home Iwith or without innocent vehicle involvement part of the way). I am probably basing this on too small a sample but I'm interested to see if my theory has legs.

Hi

please can I just check with regards - 3.40 Lurker & Legs man seen in Horseshoe, are these two different people or two names for the same person?

Presuming the shot of the doorway at the end of the CCTV footage is the 'legs' but I read somewhere on here that someone was seen leaving the horseshoe 4 mins after corrie entered. Apologies if this has already been discounted

It's hard to believe that he has walked home because as far as we know:

-He could not walk out of that area without being seen on CCTV. One person (I think a relation of Corrie's) was on the news and said something along the lines of - it is possible to walk out, but he'd have to position himself very well and basically he didn't think that likely at all.

-I don't believe there has been anybody that has come forward that has been sure they saw Corrie after he disappeared off camera? No sightings?

-It is a ruddy long way home. It is PITCH BLACK the vast majority of the way. You could not walk home.....you would not be able to see a thing, you would end up walking into a ditch.....which may even explain it, but surely a guy in the army could get himself out a ditch.

-I can't really see how he could accidently get killed on the walk home. Maybe a hit and run, taking the body with them. In Great Livermere, which is a village on the most likely route (IMO) that he would have walked home, there is a lake of some kind. It seems people sometimes end up going missing and they are in water, but I can't understand how someone just gets lost walks into water and drowns. There is also a weird looking sandy area with lines running towards a centre point - what is that place?

I understand he may have got a lift part of the way home, but still not sure how you die on that journey home, or where you could be dropped off that is lit up enough to walk home.....I don't see any roads with lights on them around there.

People have commented that they want people to go off facts etc, which I understand......

So going off facts.....walking home - does it make sense?

Personally I would more or less rule it out.

A couple of things:

There appears to be nothing on the timeline or website about the homeless guy. We didn't imagine that did we?

On the 28 mins. The link in the timeline where N is mentioning 28 minutes- N states C goes into H/s then there is 28 mins where the phone goes to BM. Then turns off at 8 a.m. thats all she says so the phone and C could have gone immediately to BM together or if he no longer had it, could have travelled later or earlier imo. Obviously neither us or N have got those exact movements and that is the ace in the hole that LE still are keeping out of the public domain. That is why the phone movements can only be speculation still ATM IMO.

Would appreciate thoughts on homeless guy and where reports of him have gone?

Ok everyone, I've just had a thought... who has confirmed that the Nokia Lumia (or however it is spelt) is C's phone?

It's a pretty old phone for a young guy to have, especially one with flash clothes and a flash car. Most young lads have iPhones or Samsung phones.

Maybe it was thrown in the bin lorry to lead us off track...

Have not really heard much about a homeless guy.

But my first thoughts on 'Homeless'........well Homeless people don't tend to have cars and especially don't have houses......so how would a homeless guy be involved in anyway?
