CA - Douglas Navarro, 49, fatally shot, Anaheim, 11 Jan 2017

    http://abc7.com/news/dad-of-anaheim-...-help/1701869/

Anaheim police said 23-year-old Brianne Deese was kidnapped Wednesday night at gunpoint by 35-year-old Luke Lampers, who is a transient in the area.

"Please let her go. She doesn't need to be involved in whatever you're doing. Just please let her go," David Deese said.

Authorities said it happened at the Crystal Inn around 7:30 p.m. Before kidnapping Brianne Deese, Lampers is suspected of also shooting 49-year-old Douglas Navarro in the chest. He died at the hospital.

Lampers is also suspected of kidnapping Brianne Deese from the motel and forcing her into his vehicle at gunpoint, said Wyatt, who added the pair had been in a romantic relationship "and detectives believe she is being held against her will."

Some time before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the gunman and a female passenger pulled into the Crystal Inn, 2123 W. Lincoln Ave., in an orange or gold Nissan Cube or similar vehicle with a “boxy” body style, said Wyatt, citing witness statements.
Now I get where you're coming from, modesty blaise. I'm a bit confused too.

Oh crap. This transient guy took Brianne as hostage. And he's unpredictable, desperate, and probably nutty. Yikes!

Well, what an INCREDIBLY misleading first article. I guess Dads don't always see things very clearly when their beloved daughters are involved.

Hopefully this can be resolved without further carnage.

The whole thing is a little confusing. This article sheds a little light on it.

He was a former boyfriend according to this article:
    http://ktla.com/2017/01/13/authoriti...anaheim-motel/

They were at the hotel together and left together. So is she being held against her will or did she go with him?
    http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2017/...ll-on-the-run/

Deese was staying with someone at the motel and apparently left with Lampers and returned sometime later, Wyatt said. She was trying to get into a room where she was staying to retrieve some personal effects when Navarro intervened to say she wasn’t registered at the motel as a guest in that room, Wyatt said.

Lampers apparently saw an animated discussion between Brianne and Navarro and allegedly shot Navarro, Wyatt said. Then Lampers — at gunpoint — told Brianne to leave with him, Wyatt said.

He is being described as homeless and a transient but is driving a decent enough Nissan and before his train wreck of FB was closed presumably by the sister he was at baseball games and looked like he was living a normal life.

The photos are misleading. This is probably the most recent photo from her drug arrests in the summer. The father stated in the article above she has been suffering heroin addiction since she was 16.

The car Luke Theodore Lampers was driving has been found abandoned in an industrial park in the city of CERRITOS California.
Luke and Brianne are still missing.

A Southern California man suspected of kidnapping and murder was shot and wounded by police officers from Anaheim Thursday near a motel in Old Town San Diego...

On Wednesday evening, APD investigators received information from the kidnapping victim’s family that she was in San Diego, asking for help. Deese managed to escape from Lampers to call her father to report her whereabouts, saying she was somewhere near Interstate 5 and Clairemont Drive. Her father passed along that information to police...

Deese is safe, though no further details about her were immediately released by police.
