A KSP detective testified that Taylor told them she shot her husband Larry over a $264,000 cash settlement she had deposited in August that had been depleted. He also testified that Taylor wrote a six-page letter. In it, they said Taylor that shot her kids "because she didn't want them growing up without a mother."

yep, speechless. Just wow. I am fascinated with why people do what they do. So often, they do what they do because of money. Just. Can. Not. Fathom.\

Wait wait wait. She deposited $264K in August and it was "depleted" - i.e., I shall assume he spent it. So that makes this retaliation or revenge or punishment? If the money is gone, it's gone. Not like she was gong to kill him and then get her hands on this moolah. It was reportedly gone. Don't get it. And lots of security at her (non)appearance today. Like whoa.

Her next court date is scheduled for Feb 1
So she entered a plea of not guilty but then tells the motive?

    Mother? I think NOT!
I heard this detail from my friend 2 days ago, her niece went to school with the younger sister. I didn't have any way to source the info so I'm glad it's out in MSM now. I'm also impressed with how spot on the hearsay was in the "town gossip" I had heard. Lol

After reading the case review on her workers comp claim, my mind is boggled at how the mind and body that can barely exert energy from pain can choose to exert an exorbitant amount of energy murdering her family. My point is not to discredit anyone who lives in pain, I have no doubt after a spinal fusion she was in pain. Debilitating pain is real. But to murder your family over 200K proves one thing to me. Her agenda was never about the pain, or how the pain took her quality of life away, or how the bills were piling up, or having a kid starting college. It was 100% selfish GREED. JMO

This story isn't very clear. Did she kill her husband because he spent all the money from the settlement? Really???

If this is really what happened, those beautiful girls never had much of a mother to begin with, IMO.

Apparently, no controlled pain medications were found at the home... just one Rx for hypertension.

"Gibbs asked Det. Correll several questions about what was recovered from the home after a search warrant was issued. Det. Correll answered that guns and one non-controlled prescription bottle were recovered."

And, despite what seems to be a confession (along with the discarded handwritten notes describing why she did this)... she has entered a plea of "not guilty", and now (after watching the prelim hearing) I'm wondering if her attorney will suggest someone else committed the murders?! Is it just me getting this possible defense vibe??

A woman accused of killing her family is indicted for their murders.

A Whitley County grand jury handed down an indictment against Courtney Taylor.

Taylor faces three counts of murder for the deaths of her husband and two daughters and wanton endangerment for raising a gun to police officers.

Taylor is scheduled back in court for a pretrial conference on September 29.

The trial date has been set for April 16. The trial is expected to last approximately 1-2 weeks.

Judge considering request to delay Courtney Taylor capital murder trial

    https://www.thenewsjournal.net/judge...-murder-trial/

During a pretrial conference Wednesday morning, Taylor’s new attorney, Teresa Whitaker, informed Judge Jeffery Burdette that she has other cases already set for trial in April and two set for trial in late March.

“There is no way I can do an adequate job and be prepared for that,” Whitaker said about the April trial date.

Burdette noted that some of Whitaker’s other cases might get settled between now and the April trial date.

“I hate to make a decision on the trial date today,” Burdette noted.
Burdette noted that he is considering postponing the trial, but only for a month or two.

Burdette set another pretrial conference in the case for Dec. 13, and noted that he is trying to accommodate Whitaker’s schedule and ensure that there is a fair trial for both Taylor and the public.

So far no plea offers in Courtney Taylor triple homicide case

    https://www.thenewsjournal.net/far-n...homicide-case/

As it stands, the triple homicide trial of a Williamsburg woman, who is charged with killing her husband and two children, is still scheduled for April 16, but it’s possible, if not likely, that the trial will be delayed due to a number of factors. The biggest question is how long the delay may be.

So far there have been no plea negotiations in the capital murder case against 41-year-old Courtney Taylor, but prosecutors are expected to meet with the victim’s family in the coming weeks to present them with all available options.
During Thursday’s hearing, public advocate Teresa Whitaker asked Special Judge Jeffrey Burdette to delay the trial in part because a mitigation expert hired by the defense in August, had to close her business due to health reasons after working a couple of months on the case.

Burdette didn’t rule on the motion for a continuance Thursday, and left the trial date set for April 16. He scheduled what is now a final pre-trial conference for Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. and is expected to address the issue of a continuance then.
