:( really wish I hadn't seen the image of the mangled pram and pram seat stuck on the car bonnet. Can't get it out of my head. Thinking of all the people involved.

There are those who would be upset if the police had not ended the chase and the chase resulted in innocent deaths.Praying for victims and their grieving families and those injured.

Three people, including a young child, have been killed and a number of others injured after a man allegedly drove into pedestrians in Melbourne's CBD.

At least 20 people have been treated for various injuries after a maroon car ploughed into the crowd just after 1.30pm.

Police said the incident is related to a stabbing in Windsor in inner Melbourne earlier on Friday and is not terror-related.

Police said they believed the man was involved in a stabbing at 2:15am in Windsor, where he allegedly attacked his brother.

Commissioner Ashton said the suspect was known to police and was also charged over an incident last weekend.

"There is an extensive family violence history involved. He has come to our attention on many occasions in the past. We have mental health and drug-related issues in the background of this particular person," he said.
"He has been coming to our attention more recently over recent days in relation to assaults, family violence-related assaults."

Where I work was on lock down due to this craziness! I'm pretty sure we will find out ice is a factor here!
This guy literally drove 60 km/h down streets that are for pedestrians and trams only.
Thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones :(

My friend in Melbourne, who has been in hospital for a few days, writes to say it's the same one seven of the injured plus the suspect have been admitted to.

So bloody tired of these violent bastards getting parole or allowed bail.

Also Islamic links now being reported by main stream media.

You need an army to take me': The online rantings of 'Islamic' driver with a history of drugs and violence who mowed down dozens in deadly Melbourne rampage and promised to 'have god's laws reinstated

Prayers of healing and comfort to those in hospital.

Sending prayers of comfort and love to the loved ones of those killed.

So unnecessary. Saddens my heart.

THE man who allegedly drove a car through a crowded Melbourne shopping district on Friday, killing four and injuring at least 20, claimed to be “god himself in a human bodily form” in a series of unhinged Facebook postings leading up to the attack.

What I found disturbing is the amount of fb 'likes' this dipshit received for his lunatic rants! What is wrong with people? Is a violent crazy **** something to admire? These narcissist pricks reveal themselves well and truly before they do the unthinkable!

The police hands are tied! DG should have been held in a psychiatric unit indefinitely after he attacked his mother's partner! DG was/is a danger to his family and society but no one gives a toss until it's too late, lets let him out to play!!!! Everything went down hill when the doors closed for Mental Health facilities to hold violent mentally disturbed individuals for an indefinite period, not 48 hours or less! It's a tragedy that could have been avoided. JMO

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. The perpetrator of this has been confirmed by Victoria Police & all media outlets to have NO links to Islam or terrorism & was acting on his own:

Victoria Police can confirm today's Melbourne CBD incident is not a terrorist incident. To clarify, the term CT stands for Counter Terrorism (from Vic Police twitter, the link won't post for some reason)

From the press conference: "There is an extensive family violence history involved. He has come to our attention on many occasions in the past. We have mental health and drug-related issues in the background of this particular person,"

"He has been coming to our attention more recently over recent days in relation to assaults, family violence-related assaults." (from http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-01-20/car-hits-several-pedestrians-in-melbournes-cbd/8197876 )

Mental illness issues such as paranoia & psychosis often involve conspiracy theories & delusional grandiosity. Taking single lines of his extensive rants & saying there are "Islamic links" is giving the illusion of smoke where there has been absolutely no fire. There's loads of islamophobia & fear of terrorism around, no need to use a tragedy like this to amp it up.

It would be more useful to connect his (or most violent offenders) actual history of family violence & mental illness to the systemic issues of ******ing these services. But talking about "monsters" as something that come from elsewhere is far easier than understanding how violence & horrifying acts like yesterday happen - both as a mix of personality, personal choices & the society we're all a part of.

Would put money on ice being involved in yesterday's incident considering how many hours he was driving around after stabbing his brother in Windsor & the mall incident... Hopefully the police will be able to speak to him soon & we can find out more.

Mass murderers are highly likely to have a history of domestic violence, terrorising their families before taking it to the streets. Therefore, it would make very good sense for us to make urgent and ongoing investment in addressing the crime of intimate terrorism as a first step towards protecting communities. As nothing else has thus far persuaded governments to consistently invest in curtailing the endemic plague of intimate terrorism in this country, perhaps recognition of the wider implications might.

It's Time To Recognize What Many Mass Murderers Share In Common

Just things to think about if we are to limit/stop these 'terrorists' from taking innocent lives, we have to take intimate terrorism seriously. An individual suffering a mental illness and drug abuse which unfortunately, go hand in hand, who is violently threatening and abusing his family should be held in a secure psychiatric centre to receive treatment for however long it's required.
Terrorism doesn't mean Muslim/Islam.
