NC - Shots fired inside Eastland Mall, Charlotte, 2005
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An argument led to a shooting Monday inside Eastland Mall. One person was injured.
Several witnesses reported the first-floor incident around 2 p.m. Police then responded to the scene.
"Our investigation has revealed that two groups of young males confronted each other outside of a store," said Capt. Harold Medlock of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. "Words were exchanged, a punch was thrown, two shots were fired.
The CMPD said 12 people were involved in the argument. One took out a handgun and fired the shots.
As best as we can determine, (the incident was) not gang-related, Medlock said. No gang signs were thrown, no gang colors were involved.

there's a mall in our downtown where they actually put up signs and have police officers that man the doors and have dress codes with no "colors" allowed ... I guess that is for the "gang" dress colors. Also, no backwards baseball caps and no doo rags or whatever they call them. And no jeans down to the butt cracks either. It really helps cut down on the crap.
There's also metal detectors. I still don't shop there as much though.
It's just unpleasant to have to watch your back.
It's a damn shame that these kids have to act like that.

Charlotte is just getting to be a dangerous place all together, I try not to go there, I shop at Concord Mills now, but the way kids hang around there it's only a matter of time before it gets just as bad. I guess eventually everyone will be shopping online because they are to scared to go to the mall, and thats just sad.Caylee Marie Anthony 2005-2008

I must say that I believe that the mall is trying to shape up but as you saw by the aboved mention, it just doesnt seem to be happening fast enough. Also I believe that the city is growing to big, which leads to problems. I live in charlotte, near unc so I love the area im in, but you couldnt pay me to go to most places in charlotte by myself or with my child during anytime of day. Its very sadFind Brian Shaffer!!
