4 PHASES OF COLD WATER IMMERSION
The most common misunderstanding about Cold Water Immersion is that it leads to immediate Hypothermia. The real truth is, other serious events occur long before hypothermia sets in, each with its own physiological challenges.

    The four phases are:

    1 Cold Shock Response
    2 Cold Incapacitation
    3 Hypothermia
    4 Circum-rescue Collapse

Cold Shock Response lasts for only about a minute after entering the water and refers to the affect that cold water has on your breathing. Initially, there is an automatic gasp reflex in response to rapid skin cooling. If the head goes underwater, water may be breathed into the lungs during the gasp. The result is simple: drowning. Thatís one of the many benefits of a life jacket or PFD: it helps to keep your head above water during this critical first response.

A second component of the Cold Shock Response involves hyperventilation. Like the gasp reflex, this is a natural reaction to the cold. Although this physiological response will subside, panic can cause a psychological continuance of hyperventilation. Prolonged hyperventilation can lead to a faint, so the key thing is to concentrate on controlling your breathing.

The other significant Cold Shock Response is cardiac related. As the arteries narrow (vasoconstriction), the heart has to work harder to pump the same volume of blood throughout the body. Especially for people with underlying heart disease, this additional workload can cause the heart to go into cardiac arrest.

    Maybe he fainted...

Cold Incapacitation occurs within 5 Ė 15 minutes in cold water. Vasoconstriction decreases blood flow to the extremities in an effort to preserve heat in the core, thereby protecting the vital organs but allowing the periphery to cool. Unfortunately, muscle and nerve fibres donít work well when cold. Within this critical time frame you will lose meaningful movement in your hands and feet, and then your arms and legs, so if youíre not wearing a floatation device, you will be unable to stay afloat and will drown. Other important life-saving/survival activities will also become more difficult and then impossible.

Apparently all along she has maintained that she can't remember anything

That fits in with LE everyone was just blasted out of their marbles while the two of them walked all over town without being remembered!

While being exposed to many bartenders that did not bounce them ?

The Uber driver never reported he felt like he was transporting a woman in a drunk fugue !

BUT, I have to say if I was in blackout and the next day who I was with went missing , and I could not remember a whole lot - I am not sure how I think it might be "good" to go on nationial TV and say so!

Everyone with Joey and with Zach did interview after interview.

So in some sense (only) has nothing to do with how alcohol impacted him - but she might have been the one that got bounced not him, and of course he would exit with her.

I dont know how the pizza fits in!!

There is a local rumor (I am a member of the local gay community) that an individual who owns one or more gay bars in Pittsburgh and is viewed as a community leader...has not been cooperating with the police regarding DK and his associate being in his establishments during the night in question. Whether this is true or if the police are being intentionally vague regarding the timeline of this case is VERY concerning. Are there receipts that will help establish the timeline? Aren't there cameras at these bars? I know several gay bars on Liberty do. Looking for more insight.

For the third time, I wasn't suggesting that he fell on to the concrete and then in the water. I suggested that he may have been close to the edge, tripped and fell in. There would be no impact hitting the water and with the water being a few feet below the ledge it would make it difficult to get out.

That is what I have been saying- release the whole clip -- they did the same thing with Zach and it took nine months or so for them to release actual video of Joey in the bar. Don't get it

The way it hit me (now that I have gotten caught up ) is the video might clearly show he was not as bombed as LE is trying to make it. They wanted to go for a drunk gay dude who fell somewhere from day one.

Does anyone really believe that if a 23 female went "missing" the first thing LE would do is try to find out who she might have been meeting??

That is number one in any crime

I seem to remember the police using the passive voice about the drones and possibly the search dogs. So I think they presented these things not as their own actions but as actions as part of a time line.

Maybe this is the person that Dakota's mother often addressed in her posts. When reading them initially, I assumed she was addressing police. But perhaps she was addressing the owners of those businesses.

Oh boy- and this would fit in with a lot of public opinion in other recent cases about bartender staff throwing people out in cold weather..

It would also fit in with much discussion recently about if it is ok for establishments to just toss out people who they overserved ( don't know why I just don't think he was that blasted) and if something happens they risk the hassle of being sued.

Maybe not the quantity of breathing, but a month and a half water would seep in.

    it indicates very recent "placement"

    NO water is somewhat telling

As far as Joey goes its over they are no longer doing anything -- its been a year--- it goes down in history as undetermined despite the fact that he shows up in a place they have searched several times weeks apart with no water in his body. IMO that is a dump.........................

    BACKGROUND:
Drowning without aspiration of liquid, generally attributed to death from asphyxia while submerged and in laryngospasm, has been reported to occur in approximately 10% to 15% of drowning victims.

    OBJECTIVES:
The occurrence of "dry-drowning" recently has been questioned and the hypothesis developed that "dry-lungs" in bodies found dead in the water could conceal more natural deaths than previously recognized.

I'd scope out a populated place but one that is off the beaten path and where I can easily see where the cameras are. I'd wait with my car nearby, on a not-freezing-cold night, and keep my eyes peeled for someone that I could corner. Maybe I'd have a badge and say I was an undercover cop and I was arresting them for public intoxication and urination. I'd bind their hands and lead them over to my car, just as a cop would, bundle them in, lock the doors, and drive off.

I have absolutely no evidence that this has occurred in any of the cases, but it's something to consider.
Good thinking. At that thought, they should scope out the cameras for cars that look similar to cop cars.
