Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

    Respectfully snipped from article above:

Alexis lost her cellphone, couldn’t log onto social media, and lost many of her social contacts, Jennifer said. She met up with the wrong crowd and became addicted to heroin.

Alexis entered rehab this past autumn after a near-fatal overdose, and has battled the addiction since.

(...) Jennifer noted Alexis already had serious health issues, including kidney disease, a heart problem, and high blood pressure, before her seizure
My guess would be she went back to that crowd and/or drugs. It's the most obvious scenario to me. Hope she's safe and will be located soon.

According to the FB the family has started a GFM, and Alexis' mother is in Miami searching for her now. Three detectives are assigned to the case, plus private investigators.

According to the MP Facebook page she doesn't have money, ID, a vehicle or a cell phone with her. Makes me think someone might have offered her "help" but took advantage of her (human trafficking?) or harmed her.

I can't shake my gut feeling though that her disappearance has to do with her heroin addiction somehow.

Genesee County Native Missing From Miami
Say's mother, Jennifer, said the Human Trafficking Task Force, which was launched by the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office in 2012, has been in touch with her about her daughter's disappearance. A spokesperson for the state attorney's office confirmed it has been in contact with the family but could not comment any further.

The mom is BEGGING for help, ideas and suggestions. She is frantic and rightly so. They are doing a great job getting info out on SM. I pray they find AS safe and very soon. This is heartbreaking to watch.

This heroin epidemic. Its killing our youth.

I'm hoping that Alexis will return soon. She is a beautiful girl and it seems like she has a wonderful family. I know first hand how drugs take over your life but I also know getting back clean is possible and also wonderful and I'm hoping she gets the chance to know how great it feels too.

Missing alexis say - miami and buffalo ny area

Very sad situation to hear seeing I am from Buffalo. Unfortunately, even though the family believes it could be a human traffic case, my gut feeling (I have psychic abilities) that she didn't want to go back to rehab and decided to meet up with her "old crowd" to hang out and shoot up. The problem is, with her health compromised, she could have overdosed or in her mind set just walked away and is in an abandoned home. Hopefully there will be a better outcome than that. I would flood the most high drug traffic areas first and seeing the hospital had no footage, check areas around the hospital for footage. If she used a strangers phone to contact family that she was in hospital due to seizure, family or whoever should see whose number came up because if she used a strangers phone to call family she probably used a strangers phone to call for a ride, cab or whatever. Best of luck.

I work in the overtown area...I will keep my eyes open. I'll also tell all my coworkers. I work nights so maybe, just maybe. This is really sad.

Tuesday, investigators in the Miami Dade Police Department said there is no indication that she is endangered. Police also say state investigators in Florida's human trafficking section are not looking into the case.

Wait. How is she not in some danger? She ran from a hospital and has not surfaced in a month. Even if she wasn't abducted and went back out to use drugs, isn't she still in danger?

Maybe they should have reworded this to say they don't believe she was abducted bc she most definitely is in danger. MOO

If she had a seizure, I can't believe whatever clinic let her go to the ER unescorted. I hope they called 911 and an EMS run sheet supports this. Obviously she was vulnerable after a medical emergency. I haven't had a seizure in a long time, but when I did (not induced by anything other than my genetics and maybe stress as a trigger - simple and partial complex seizures), I wasn't thinking straight for many hours afterward.

I really hope this "rehab" is held responsible for their apparent negligence. There should have been a representative with her, hands down. I don't care if it's some sort of "free will" clinic - someone has a seizure, their brain isn't functioning correctly!!! Also, why isn't the facility being named? I think the public has a right to know! If it has been named, my apologies. I looked for any identification of said rehab but didn't find any approx a week ago.

Sorry for the rant. Makes my blood boil. I wouldn't leave a stranger alone after a seizure, much less someone I was trusted to care for, especially medically.
