PRAIRIEVILLE A human skull and other remains discovered in a wooded strip behind an Ascension Parish home touched off an investigation Monday afternoon thats set to resume Tuesday morning.
Ascension Parish sheriffs deputies said Monday night that members of the LSU FACES Lab are expected to show up Tuesday to help sheriffs investigators examine the scene closely for clues to the identity of the person and how the persons body came to be in the woods.
The body was found along Germany Road just west of Braud Road and a bit less than a mile east of Airline Highway. The scene is behind a home but is apparently on a separate piece of property.
Webre said that based on what deputies had found so far, the sex of the person and whether the person died from foul play remained unclear.
He added it did not appear the body had been buried.
The skull appears to have been at the site for a few months, Webre said, but he noted that the two persons whom sheriffs deputies know to be missing in Ascension have been gone much longer than a few months.
