The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death as a homicide. The victim suffered trauma to the upper body.

Detectives believe the victim is Damaris A. Reyes Rivas, 15, of Gaithersburg, Md. The teenaged girl was reported missing from Montgomery County, Md., on December 10, 2016. Detectives are following numerous leads and the investigation remains active.

Police in Montgomery County never told the public a teen was missing until her body was found in Virginia this weekend.

MCP release many photos of missing people and typically post them online – but there isn’t a single mention of Rivas. A spokesperson for MCP said that’s because the 15-year-old did not fit their criteria of “critically missing.”

Every single missing child should be entered into the database and pictures and information released to the public. I don't care if they think the child left home willingly or not. A missing child is always in danger. Also, one of their excuses is she responded to texts? Anyone could respond to texts on someone's phone. Texts are not conclusive proof someone is safe or even alive! This is horrible!
 
And she is now connected to another girl who is missing. I think it is tied together. The connection may have been made sooner had this girl been entered in the missing databases etc. I am sorry, I can not pull the other girls's name from my mind quickly. Will go look for it.
 
Police say four adults and six juveniles were involved in the murder of Damaris "Alexandra" Reyes Rivas. Nine of those suspects are in custody and have been charged with abduction and gang participation. A 10th suspect is being sought.

Venus Romero Iraheta was missing for nearly a month. She left home after receiving threats from gang members, according to police. Iraheta knew Reyes Rivas, police said.
Iraheta returned home Tuesday and was taken into police custody a short time later. Because of her age, police did not say whether she may face any charges or why she was taken into custody.
