Found Deceased KS - Brock Sanders, 25, Caney, 8 February 2017 *Arrest*

I don't know how to link a news article, but if you google Stevan Ranes Caney KS an article in taylornews.org gives more detailed information about this case. Drugs involved. What's shocking is that the people he told of the homicide did not immediately contact LE, and his girlfriend didn't at all because she "didn't want to lose him". The damage drug abuse has caused our country is heartbreaking. ETA: the article is dated in May, and Ranes is now being charged with first degree murder.

Stevan Ranes was setenced to 186 months in prison for the 2nd degree murder conviction in the death of Brock Sanders.

Judge Jeffrey Gettler had a range of 166 months to 186 months in which to sentence Ranes. Gettler chose the maximum level, citing Ranes’ lack of remorse, the violent altercation that took Sanders’ life, Ranes’ subsequent decision to hide the body under Sanders’ sofa, and his repeated lies to law enforcement during the days in which Sanders was believed to be a missing person.

Prior to Gettler issuing the sentence, he heard from several members of the Sanders family. Reading from a letter, Debra Sanders, who is Brock Sanders’ mother, told Ranes that his days of violence were over.

“I know where you are going, and that makes me happy because I know you won’t do that again,” she said in tears.

Bonda Frank, Brock Sanders’ sister, also told Ranes that he hoped to recognize what the loss of Brock’s life has done to the Sanders’ family.

“I hope every time you close your eyes, you see the face of Brock Sanders and the hurt you caused him and his family,” she said.

yes. he was there awhile!

Yeah that caught my attention as well.

I'm assuming he did. Ranes did go into the house the next day so I guess he didn't worry about another resident seeing him.

His nonchalant attitude about it really emphasizes how depraved he is. I'm glad the judge gave him the maximum sentence, it's just unfortunate that the max is only 15 years.
