While I am not sure I can agree to ' charge the parents' I can definitely FEEL what you mean by this. It has to stop and we are responsible for the children we raise.
This is genius ""Lets get ankle monitors for both the parents and the children who commit crimes. Lets force them to be within 5 feet of each other for 4 hours every day.'''' Know your child!

Police testimony: Teens conspired to 'get rid of' 14-year-old girl who was messaging boy

According to a statement the alleged gunman gave to police, the boys were playing video games one day when one said he would like to "get rid of" 14-year-old Deserae, who was sending him messages on social media.

"I just didn't want anything to do with Snapchatting her anymore," the boy wrote in his statement, which was read aloud by police.

His friend replied, "Well you've got a 6-inch blade, why don't you do it yourself?" according to the statement.

I'm quite flummoxed by this, honestly. I shouldn't be. But really?I have to wonder first and foremost not about these boys but about what on earth their parents have been doing for the last 14 years of these childrens lives that these kids have learned the way you solve the issue of someone annoying you with too many messages on an app is to kill them.

And no, I do not blame video games. That's lazy. It's parenting, 100%. If you raise your kids right it doesn't matter if they play video games (or read fantasy books/play DnD/listen to metal/rap or whatever boogeyman is the issue atm), they already know right from wrong and what consequences come from what actions.

It's why schools - at least where I live - are spending time teaching kids conflict resolution and relationship skills that kids should be learning at home, but aren't.

‘I am tougher than a bullet’: Utah girl shot in the head released from hospital

Nine weeks after she was shot in the head and left to die in a Smithfield canal, 14-year-old Deserae Turner was released from the hospital Thursday.

    Wearing
a white T-shirt with the word "Happy" scrawled on the front, the teen said Thursday that her clothing reflected how she felt: happy to go home. Happy to soon see the horses that she loves. Happy to be alive.

Yeah what's wrong with simply blocking the girl on social media? Something is wrong with these kids.

In any event, they've both been named and are being tried as adults. Deserae is doing well but has up to years of rehab.

    Teen May Change Plea

    https://www.ksl.com/?sid=46111876&ni...-shooting-case

LOGAN — A pair of northern Utah teens charged as adults in the shooting of a 14-year-old girl are set to appear in court Tuesday morning.

Court documents suggest 16-year-old Colter Peterson could enter a guilty plea. He is one of two teens accused of plotting to shoot and kill 14-year-old Deserae Turner in February.

A 9-day jury trial is slated to begin in November, but court documents indicate a change of plea hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Peterson is being held in the Cache Valley Youth Center.

His co-defendant, 16-year-old Jyzon Decker, also is expected in court Tuesday for a hearing. His trial is scheduled for February.
