AR - Man jailed for alleged attempted murder of wife, Saline County
A Hensley man is in custody at the Saline County jail for the alleged attempted first-degree murder of his wife.
Saline County sheriff's detectives say that Alfred Craney, 71, shot his wife, Shirley Craney, numerous times Friday afternoon and then accidentally shot himself in the arm in the couple's home at 1910 Scotch Pine Lane. Detectives found the couple about 4:10 p.m. sitting in their living room. According to a sheriff's affidavit, Shirley Craney told Lt. Tracy Gay that her husband had shot her during an argument.
Shirley Craney was taken by MedFlight to the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock, and Alfred Craney was taken there by ambulance.
Cpl. Mike Frost said Saturday that Shirley Craney was in stable condition at the hospital.
Alfred Craney was treated for the gunshot wound to his left arm and then released to the sheriff's office's custody and taken to the county detention facility.
The victim's daughter, Vickie Thomas, told detectives that Alfred Craney had called her and said her mother had been shot, according to the affidavit. When she arrived on the scene, Shirley Craney stated that Alfred had shot her.

Alfred Craney told detective Dan Sutterfield that "he wasn't quite sure what had happened." He told Sutterfield that his wife retrieved his handgun out of his tackle box and that he then grabbed the gun at which time the gun discharged sticking him in the arm. He said that he did not know how his wife got shot "unless he put a round in the chamber and it accidentally discharged."
OMG! Not even accidently...she was shot 6 times in her side and back.

LOL, he accidently pulled the trigger 6 times? Maybe while he is sitting in the jail, he can think up a better story.Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........
Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?
