"Newcomerstown police tell FOX 8 the suspects wanted in connection with the shooting of a police officer are still at-large.

A man who authorities originally said was a suspect in the case, Chaz Gillilan, has been cleared, according to the chief."

Also a pic of the officer who was treated and released after being shot, at the link. I wonder how they happened to 'pin' the wrong guy as a suspect! Crazy.

Alerting my OP to the mods so they can remove his pic and his name from the title.

I won't be able to follow this for much longer tonight since it's nearing my bedtime where I'm at, but it would be nice if we could get a bit more of a description than a red shirt and a lime green shirt (both of which have probably been ditched by now). Hopefully the officer will be able to provide a bit more info. There has to be a reason why they thought the now cleared man was involved, i.e. maybe one of the suspects looks like him? There's gotta be more they can say.

So why would one of these guys be wearing a tactical vest while they were driving? Was this a set up?

Police say one of the suspects is wearing a red sweatshirt and the other is wearing a lime green shirt. They also say one of the suspects is wearing a tactical vest. They’re armed with a shot gun and hand guns, police say.

Sheriff’s Office: Newcomerstown officer ‘fabricated’ being shot by suspects

"According to the news release, none of the witnesses reported seeing the Geo Tracker on Johnson Hill Road at the time Eubanks said he was pursuing the vehicle. That's when, sheriff's investigators say, they called Eubanks in for more questioning, and he admitted to making up the story.

During questioning, Eubanks said he lied about the story after a failed suicide attempt. Officials say while they believe Eubanks caused his own injury, there are many questions that still need to be answered about the incident."
