HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's office needs your help finding an accused killer: William Greer is charged with the December 2006 murder of his girlfriend, Tammy Esquivel. Greer allegedly shot Esquivel during an argument in their home. Her body has never been found, but it's believed Greer burned or buried it on private property in Liberty County.

The man accused with her murder, now on the run. William Greer confessed to accidentally shooting and killing his live-in girlfriend. Since the cops didn't have anything to prove what they were being told, they released Greer the next day.

America's Most Wanted aired a segment on Greer, and neighbors in a Georgetown neighborhood recognized him as the man who had moved in to a neighborhood home about six weeks earlier. Since he began living in Georgetown, the sheriff's department reports Greer got a job in construction, got baptized at a local church and even rented an apartment across from the police department. He also began dating several women in the area. Investigators are contacting and interviewing them now.

Authorities obtained a search warrant and entered Greer's abandoned residence Monday, where they found a cowboy hat upside down with a marble in it. A similar hat with a marble was left in New Orleans when he fled from there. A Texas man known for a half-naked, drunken statement recorded in 2006 on a dash-cam outside Houston and wanted for the killing of his girlfriend is now an international fugitive.

William Joseph Greer, 51, has been added to the database of wanted persons with Interpol, the international police agency.

William Joseph Greer, 52, was arrested in southern Mexico on Tuesday. Authorities say they were able to identify the suspect because one of his toes was missing from his left foot.

Does anyone know when his trial is starting or how the case is moving forward? I haven't seen any updates since his arrest really—nothing past 2017.

Wow, pretrial isn't scheduled until January 7th, 2020. Then jury trial scheduled February 7th, 2020. Hoping for justice for Tammy! No-body trials are difficult. But there is direct evidence (a confession).
