A heavy police presence has closed Harding Road in Old Greenwich and police have reported the discovery of human remains. The road is closed at its intersection with Laddins Rock Road right near Binney Park.

At approximately 9:12 a.m on Tuesday., what appeared to be human remains were found in the park. Police said employees from the town’s Parks and Recreation Department were clearing debris in a wooded area of the park when the remains were found.

Some good pictures in that article. Looks like they're working fairly close to the road.

It will probably be hard to say who this person is. The park is very close to Rt 95, which runs from Maine to Florida. :-/

Three dozen members of the Greenwich Police Department on Monday conducted an extensive line search at Helen Binney Kitchel Natural Park looking for any new clues.

"Since the remains initially found were only a partial set, we wanted to re-check the areas originally done and expand the search to a larger area," wrote Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry. "This additional search was not based on any new information; we just wanted to be as thorough as possible."

The FBI is also assisting.

Investigators went to Binney Park on Thursday to search for more evidence in the discovery of human remains last April.

Members of a state police dive team and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials joined local police in the area of Binney Park, focusing on an area police could not check earlier because of PCB contamination. The DEEP crews provided protective gear and expertise so that police could search for evidence.

[h=1]Human Remains Search Resumes In Greenwich's Binney Park[/h]
Members of the Greenwich Police Department and other law enforcement officials have returned to the park multiple times over the past several weeks to conduct the exhaustive ground and water search for more clues.

Additional human bones have been discovered at the site since the initial discovery on April 25, but Greenwich police say that they are consistent with only one person not more bodies.

Wow, back again!?!?

I just took a look at the Namus and it says they did not recover a head. Just a guess, but I suspect they are looking for his skull. Better chance of creating a reconstruction and identifying him if they find the skull. JMO.

[h=1]Search continues for evidence in Binney Park[/h]
GREENWICH — Police officers and scuba divers were back out at Binney Park Thursday morning, as the investigation into the discovery of skeletal remains in the area continues.

Police are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the identity and a cause of death, if possible. Investigators have been scouring the area for any pieces of evidence related to the case.

[h=1]Greenwich Police: Skeleton found near Binney Park a recent death[/h]
“A few months to a few years,” said police Lt. David Nemecek. The skeleton did not belong to someone who died long ago.
Police have recovered some other human bones in the area as part of an extensive search that began when the remains of the person were found in late April. There is heavy tidal action in a little stream next to where the skeleton was found, connected with Binney Pond. Some of the human bones were found far away from the original site of the discovery in Helen Binney Kitchel Park Natural Park as a result of the water flow.

“Every indication is it’s from the same person,” said the lieutenant.
Article also says they plan to dredge the Pond in the coming weeks: http://www.westport-news.com/local/...-Skeleton-found-near-Binney-Park-11271106.php

Authorities plan to return to the park once the dredging is completed and the pond has dried.

Members of the Greenwich Police Department have made numerous trips to the park to search for evidence since the initial discovery on April 25.

"The remains could be from a few months ago to a few years ago."
