(**This is my first time starting a new thread, so bear with me! This is local to me and while I do not know the victim, we have mutual friends**)

Family and friends of a murdered Indianapolis man are begging anyone who knows anything about the crime to please come forward.

On Monday afternoon, a group of fishermen found Kobi Walden’s body behind an apartment complex on the city’s south side.

:( his fb posts show he was so excited for a roller derby match i think, just about a week ago. it makes me so sad to see how normal someone's life is before it's taken from them.

Agree. Even though I didn't know him personally, from what I see on FB, he was very loved and respected. I hope his family and friends get justice.

Thank you for this. I live in Indianapolis but I am on the complete other side of town, so anything I know about the neighborhood would be rumors or talk that I've read on social media.

ETA: I will see what details I can find about the apartments.

Indianapolis has high crime areas in "pockets" it seems. This area to me is not known as a high homicide area at all (MOO). I found a 2017 homicide map of Indy and it looks like it is not common in this area at all (when compared to the inner city). Although I would have to look more into crime rates in general, the murder is what seems to be not ordinary.

The location of Kobi's incident is shown here where I circled in purple so you can see the comparison of homicides closer to inner city.

99.9% positive it's a no.

Here is Kobi's obituary. It mentions he was a musician and frequently played in the Indy Pride Band. I hope this wasn't a hate crime but it could be JMO

I'm on the north side also. I grew up on the east side which is known as high crime, but I haven't spent much time on the south side. From what I know, your description is spot on. Hate crime was one of my first thoughts as well, IMO.

So far, I haven't heard enough to be worth starting one, IMO. But I really appreciate it, and I'll let you know if it changes.

I just tried to access his facebook page but got the message that it might have been removed?

So sad. :(

From reading his FB, I don't get the impression he is gay. Maybe someone could have been mad he supported gay people?

"Walden’s sister... told FOX59 she didn’t just lose her brother, she lost her best friend and her daughters lost a great uncle."

"It’s tough. It’s going to be hard for a while,” Eich said. “Kobi was the type of guy who comes in and has all the energy. He has an infectious smile. He loves the game. He wants to get better he just brought everyone’s level up.”

Did you look further to see the 'groups' he follows?
Not saying it matters or means anything one way or the other but....
I do hope this isn't a hate crime. His pictures look like he was lots of fun.
