A St. Louis postal worker is missing.

Tally's daughter, Tiffany Smith, says she and her mom are close.

We used to hang out, go to the movies, she loves to go eat," Smith said. "Through ups and downs, my mother has been there to just pick me up, wipe my tears."

Smith says her mom works at the post office on 17th St. and Market St. in downtown St. Louis. She says it's the last place anyone saw her.

Smith says Tally, a mail handler, left work in a 2008 Dodge Avenger.

She says Tally may have been heading home.Tally's home is located in the Emerson Park area in East St. Louis.

As days went on without a word from her mom, Smith grew concerned. She checked in with Tally's coworkers. They were like, she hasn't called in for work either and I was like uh oh that's not like her, not to call in for work," Smith said.

With few clues left behind, Smith is on a mission to find her.

She says her mom wears glasses and has a scar on her chest.

Smith says Melanie's phone was found at her house.

There are rumors she was last seen at a casino. I don't know which one. She doesn't have her cell phone and her bank account has not been used. She allegedly suffered from depression recently.

The decomposed body of a woman found in a car in an East St. Louis lake has been identified as a missing St. Louis postal worker.

The missing East St. Louis woman, Melanie Renee Tally, 49, hadn't been seen since April 23. Her body was recovered late Sunday morning from a lake near the golf course at Frank Holten State Recreation Area, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. An autopsy was set for Monday.

The car appeared to be Tally's own 2008 Dodge Avenger.

Oh how sad. RIP Melanie

Thankful she has been found but still sad.

Is it easy for one to accidentally drive into this lake?

I would wager it is a shallow man made lake. We don't have many natural lakes around here and if it was by a golf course it was probably decorative. Not that that answers your question really but that's just my two cents
