2017.05.12 - Unmasking and Leaking Classified Intelligence to Media

How serious is it when people in power positions unmask and share classified intelligence information to those without clearance and/or to the press? Even if you don't like Trump or his administration, does it scare you to know the President of the United States' telephone conversations with foreign leaders were leaked to the public? What about the contents of the classified interceptions of Flynn's conversations being spread all over the media? Is it okay to disclose that information when there haven't been charges brought against him, let alone a conviction? What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Why has the investigation into the unmasking and leaks come to a standstill? This has been going on for months and there's still no cooperation from the FBI to meet privately with lawmakers to discuss this serious situation.

If it's true that the whole world is laughing at President Trump, then I have to wonder what they think about our previous administration's inability to keep their mouths shut when it comes to classified information.

Note that this was 5 weeks ago and nothing has changed except that Comey has been fired.

Lawmakers say intel agencies stonewalling on surveillance probe

Lawmakers probing the surveillance of key officials in the Trump campaign and administration say the intelligence agencies now nominally under the president’s control are stonewalling efforts to get to the bottom of who revealed names and leaked protected information to the press.

The House and Senate Intelligence Committees are currently investigating allegations the Obama administration spied on Trump associates – and possibly Trump himself – for as long as the year preceding his inauguration. And while former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice has been implicated as at least one of the officials who sought redacted names from surveillance transcripts, multiple lawmakers and investigators for the panel told Fox News the CIA, FBI and National Security Agency - all agencies in position to aid the probe – are not cooperating.

“Our requests are simply not being answered,” said one House Intelligence committee source about the lack of responsiveness. "The agencies are not really helping at all and there is truly a massive web for us to try and wade through.”

A Senate Intelligence Committee source said the upper chamber had the same experience.

The fbi investigation began the same month Trump was nomination, i think the investigation was a cover just to monitor the Trump Transition team.

I am sure that flynn taking money was known to the government. It was talked about when that went down that he was doing good in the mideast with taliban/isis. The pentigon knew that was the path the admin didn't want to go. He was forced out. It wouldn't surprise me if he hadn't been surveilled since he left.

    I love Trey.

Yeah, Comey had to go just with that, guess that's why some ask for special prosecution so we can't see that there's nothing there. Glad this was open.

Intelligence Leaks Represent An Actual Constitutional Crisis

The intelligence community has become a gushing pipeline of weak information to the press, and the media then run with that information with excitement, drooling every step of the way. Trump’s firing of Flynn merely sets the media’s salivary glands working overtime, and the intelligence community leaking even more steadily. But when those with access to private information for national security purposes begin purposefully undermining an elected government without any evidence of criminal wrongdoing, we’ve got a serious crisis in government on our hands. Who watches the watchmen? Will Trump start an internal investigation into leaks, tearing apart the intelligence apparatus? Will Congress begin such an investigation? What happens when the intelligence community becomes its own shadow government, working to undermine those who are elected?

This is certainly a crisis. And that’s not Trump’s fault.

Intelligence official who 'unmasked' Trump associates is 'very high up,' source says

The U.S. intelligence official who “unmasked,” or exposed, the names of multiple private citizens affiliated with the Trump team is someone “very well known, very high up, very senior in the intelligence world,” a source told Fox News on Friday.

Intelligence and House sources with direct knowledge of the disclosure of classified names told Fox News that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., now knows who is responsible -- and that person is not in the FBI.

For a private citizen to be “unmasked,” or named, in an intelligence report is extremely rare. Typically, the American is a suspect in a crime, is in danger or has to be named to explain the context of the report.

“The main issue in this case, is not only the unmasking of these names of private citizens, but the spreading of these names for political purposes that have nothing to do with national security or an investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. election,” a congressional source close to the investigation told Fox News.

Okay so what are your thoughts on the leaking of classified information? Do you feel bad about that too?

Brennan has been on my list.

Seeking to retain his position as CIA director under Hillary, Brennan teamed up with British spies and Estonian spies to cripple Trump’s candidacy. He used their phony intelligence as a pretext for a multi-agency investigation into Trump, which led the FBI to probe a computer server connected to Trump Tower and gave cover to*Susan Rice, among other Hillary supporters, to spy on Trump and his people.

Keep in mind that the entire Russia-Trump narrative is literal deep state invented propaganda and we are now starting to actually find out where it originated. As many suspected, it was mostly conducted by actual Hillary Clinton supporters within the intelligence community.

Treason: John Brennan worked WITH foreign spies in desperate attempt to take down Donald Trump

    http://www.dcclothesline.com/2017/04...-donald-trump/

Donald Trump has publicly speculated that former CIA director John Brennan is one of the criminal leakers. In January, he tweeted out, “Was this the leaker of Fake News?” Trump has now charged the Justice Department with investigating “low-life leakers” in the government.

Gregg Jarrett: Why the latest anti-Trump frenzy is overblown

    5. THE LEAKERS COMMITTED A FELONY

Whoever leaked this classified information to the Post committed multiple felonies under the Espionage Act. It appears that notes of the meeting were transferred to a computer, and the material was leaked from there. Regardless, the person or persons who committed these acts should be prosecuted, once identified. Why? McMaster answered that question when he said, “national security has been put at risk” by the leaks. But the fact that no one seems concerned that crimes were perpetrated… underscores just how dysfunctional politics and the media have become.
