2017.05.17 - Sherriff Clarke Takes Job With Homeland Security

Milwaukee Sheriff Clarke takes job with Homeland Security

The tough-talking, cowboy hat-wearing firebrand said in an interview with WISN-AM that he will work in the Office of Partnership and Engagement as a liaison to state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies. He said he's leaving his current job next month, but declined to give a date.

"I'm both honored and humbled to be appointed to this position," Clarke said during the interview.

This is strange. DHS would not confirm this appointment when asked, and Gov. Walker's office has not received a resignation letter from Clarke yet. The only one confirming this said "appointment" is Clarke. Not saying he is lying, but the whole tone of the article was just odd.

Whatever the case, this man is appalling.

Also, "sheriff" is spelled wrong in the thread title here.

Don't worry -- it's one I have to think about ("two r's or two f's? both?").

Hit the ! alert button at the bottom of your OP; ask a mod to correct it. They usually will.

Polivent Special Rules Ground Rules and Guidelines

Welcome to the latest, all new, featured forum on Websleuths.com, POLITIVENT, designed to provide a venue for members with an eye on Capitol Hill to present and discuss their views.

What this forum is NOT, is a place to lambaste, or sling mud and arrows at fellow members.
Unlike any other forum on Websleuths, POLITIVENT is unmoderated for the most part. Our Mod Team is stretched to the limit, working very hard to ensure that the rest of the board runs smoothly. They are extremely dedicated volunteers, who signed on because of their interest in missing persons and true crime. As a
rule, political discussions are contentious, and nerve wracking to moderate. It would be unfair to expect that of our volunteers.

That stated, we have developed a limited set of ground rules, which apply exclusively to POLITIVENT, separate and apart from every other area of Websleuths.

    GROUND RULES AND GUIDELINES

    • Post at your own risk. When you present an opinion, expect opposition, and be prepared to answer questions, and defend your view. That comes with the territory. As stated above, mods will not answer alerts to settle squabbles and bickering. If you have a serious concern or questions about the forum, you can
address them in a private message or email (politivent@gmail.com), to Tricia and/or Bessie.

    • Absolutely NO name calling and attacking other members will be allowed. This offense will earn you an automatic 72 hour (or longer) Time Out. For example: “You must be out of your mind”;
      “What an idiotic idea.”; “You’re a moron/dimwit/imbecile.”

    • Absolutely NO outlandish conspiracy theories will be allowed.

    • Sources – As usual, mainstream media (MSM) sources and official press releases take priority over all other sources.

    • Most blogs are allowed as sources, for example, Breitbart, Huffington Post, The Daily Beast, Washington Post, etc. As of now, we don’t have an established list of approved blogs, but as we progress, expect to see some blogs banned.

    • Where applicable, please use this date format at the beginning of thread titles: year.mo.day.
Ex. 2017.04.18 (date of event, not the date you start the thread). This will provide a chronology, and aid in finding specific topics, by using the sort feature at the bottom of each thread page.
Since the emphasis is on events, this shouldn’t present a problem

    • The Copyright Rule still applies.

    • As always, the three most basic “rules” should be observed here, and throughout the board: courtesy, respect, and common sense.

    • The above is subject to change at any time.Ground Rules and Guidelines

Stolen Valor? Army Vet Slams Sheriff Clarke Over Ridiculous ‘Toy Uniform’

When not decked out in cowboy regalia, Clarke is often seen wearing a rather impressive-looking uniform, bedecked with ribbons and medals. He looks very official and authoritarian. No one has ever really questioned Clarke about his uniform – or the many objects cluttering it. But it seems as though we should be questioning it. After all, Clarke never served in the military, and many of his impressive badges and ribbons appear to be, upon examination, little more than bling.

Homeland Dems to DHS: Don’t appoint Sheriff David Clarke

“We understand that the Department [of Homeland Security] has yet to make an announcement about this position and strongly urge you not to consider Sheriff Clarke as candidate for this important office or any other within DHS,” they wrote in a letter to Kelly.

The group said that Clarke’s “troubling record” includes plagiarism allegations and “multiple inmate deaths” under his watch in Milwaukee County.
“Taken together, they warrant not only his immediate disqualification from consideration, but an unequivocal response from the department stating that neither Sheriff Clarke nor anyone with a similar record would be considered for a secretarial appointment within DHS.”

    Why does he despise kelly?

What has Kelly changed that he doesn't like?
It's my opinion if no link provided.

Bice: Sheriff Clarke directed staff to hassle plane passenger after brief exchange

Sitting on the tarmac at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Jan. 15, Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. sent a text message to one of his captains after a brief verbal exchange with a passenger.

The sheriff explained in the text what should be done when Riverwest resident Dan Black got off the plane.

"Just a field interview, no arrest unless he become an ******* with your guys," Clarke wrote Captain Mark Witek. "Question for him is why he said anything to me. Why didn't he just keep his mouth shut?"

"Follow him to baggage and out the door," Clarke continued. "You can escort me to carousel after I point him out."

Sheriff David Clarke directed officers to hassle man after brief exchange on plane: report

After Black filed a harassment complaint against Clarke, Clarke taunted Black on his Facebook page.

"Cheer up, Snowflake," the post read, which included a photo of Black. "If Sheriff Clarke were to really harass you, you wouldn't be around to whine about it."

Clarke also issued a statement via the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office following the complaint.

"Next time he or anyone else pulls this stunt on a plane they may get knocked out. The sheriff said he does not have to wait for some goof to assault him. He reserves the reasonable right to pre-empt a possible assault,” the statement read.

In Clarke's version of what happened on the plane, he says he was sitting in his first-class seat when Black boarded the plane.

Black stopped near his seat and asked if he was Sheriff Clarke. When Clarke responded that he was, the sheriff claimed that Black stood over Clarke in “a physically threatening manner” and “shook his head at him for a prolonged period of time.”
