OCALA, Fla. - A 13-year-old girl authorities said is at the center of an attempted murder plot of her parents is nowhere to be found.

The case is returning to headlines three years after rocking the Marion County community.

Yaquelin Don skipped her Feb. 1 court appearance and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Don and her boyfriend, 15-year-old Pedro Solis, plotted to kill her parents in March 2014 so they could be together, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Court records say Don lured her mother into the garage of their Ocala home where Solis was hiding.

He used a kitchen knife to slit her throat, deputies said. Don's mother later recovered after undergoing surgery.

The teen couple were both charged as adults with attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Don was granted a $75,000 bond in December 2014 and ordered to have no contact with her parents.

Solis remains in the juvenile detention center awaiting trial.

A warrant has been obtained for the arrest of a teenage girl who failed to show up for court on charges of attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder.

According to prosecutors and the teen’s defense lawyers, the arrest warrant was issued for Yaquelin Galvez Don on Feb. 1 by Judge Willard Pope after she failed to attend a pre-trial hearing. When she is caught, Yaquelin, who will turn 17 in August, will be held with no bond.

Solis, now 18, was charged as an adult for attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder. His court case is ongoing, according to court records. He remains incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.Yaquelin also was charged as an adult. She was initially being held with no bond but eventually was released from the Marion County Jail and was staying with a friend of the family, according to one of her lawyers.

Bill Ramputi and Tania Alavi, of the law firm of Alavi, Bird & Pozzuto, which is representing Yaquelin, said their client was doing well after she was released and was attending an alternative school. They said their primary concern is her for safety.
