House oversight panel to investigate Iran deal

Citing a POLITICO investigation, Republican leaders of the House oversight committee said Friday they have launched a sweeping investigation into whether the Obama administration, in trying to win support for a nuclear deal and prisoner swap with Tehran last year, undermined an ambitious U.S. counterproliferation effort to thwart Iranian weapons trafficking networks.

Fox News has learned that last summer, a pro-Democratic analytics firm that describes itself as “a platform for hope and change” was included as a subcontractor in a $415 million advertising contract for the 2020 Census.

The data firm, Civis Analytics, was founded by the chief analytics officer on former President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017...20-census.html

It’s unclear how much of the $415 million contract -- which was awarded to Young & Rubicam Inc. – that Civis Analytics will receive as a subcontractor or exactly what work the firm will perform on the Census.*

Civis Analytics has not responded to a request for comment.

Civis Analytics customers span the public and private sectors, and they include Airbnb, the 2020 US Census (in partnership with Young & Rubicam) and Verizon (which owns TechCrunch).

The company wasn’t involved in this year’s presidential campaign, but given Wagner’s background, I couldn’t help asking him about the election. He admitted that he has “deep regrets” about the results, but he said that Donald Trump’s surprising Electoral College victory shouldn’t change the role of data science in campaigns.

    https://techcrunch.com/2016/11/30/ci...tics-series-a/

“Trump did some interesting things with technology that were heterodox and unanticipated,” Wagner said. “Ideally, that doesn’t change the nature of what campaigns do [with] analytics, but it probably changes the way that campaigns should be run.”
He added that it’s not the analysis side but the measurement side that’s “broken and … has to change.”
It's my opinion if no link provided.

This is definitely a harsh and blunt analysis, but I agree with every word of it. Glad this author was brave enough to publish it.

It was so great when we had a President we could be proud of, that we could believe, that was beloved by other world leaders, that had manners, and was a Rhodes scholar!

    I miss that whole family.

    Bill Clinton??

Obama was a candidate, but IIRC, never actually made it as a finalist.

Bill Clinton WAS a Rhodes Scholar.

I must say that I admired the amount of charisma & "cool" Bill had. I enjoyed watching him play saxophone on stage up close & personal. However, I will never forget defending him (& the US in general with as much tact as possible) in 1999 in St. Bart's (French side) while his face was plastered all over international news over a huge scandal. We know which one.

Point being, this too shall pass.....

We didn't realize how lucky we had it. Every day I'm embarrassed for our country now. I can't trust one thing 45 says; he has zero credibility and his speeches are at what, 6th grade level?

After what we had for 8 years, it's difficult to accept that our President is no longer the world leader.
