Appeals Court Upholds Ban on Enforcing Trump Travel Restrictions

    by Pete Williams

A federal appeals court Thursday upheld one of two bans on enforcing President Donald Trump's executive order restricting travel from six predominately Muslim countries.

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Richmond, Virginia, voted 10-3 to uphold a ruling by a federal judge in Maryland who declared in March that the president's revised travel order amounted to unconstitutional religious discrimination...

Appeals court deals blow to Trumpís travel ban

Jessica Gresko, Associated Press 2:23 p.m. ET May 25, 2017

Washington ó A federal appeals court has dealt another blow to President Donald Trumpís revised travel ban targeting six Muslim-majority countries.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday upheld a lower court ruling that blocked the travel ban. Itís the first appeals court to rule on the revised travel ban. Trump rewrote the ban after several legal defeats. His administration will likely appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The appeals court decision blocks the administration from suspending new visas for people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen...

thread title had me confused. They upheld the stay on the ban. Phew.

Like it or not, the President is afforded the authority by law to restrict immigration of ANY group for ANY reason to protect the national security of the United States. The travel ban will be appealed to the SCOTUS and has a 90% chance of being upheld as legal and binding. The same decision the lower courts would have made if they applied the law without opinion.

We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we've barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.

He's yet to prove what's detrimental about the classes of aliens he's attempting to ban though.

His ridiculous ban is going to keep getting banned.

Trump to take travel ban to Supreme Court
    http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/l...l-ban-47645007
Sessions says the Justice Department "strongly disagrees" and will continue to vigorously defend Trump's order. He says the court's ruling blocks Trump's "efforts to strengthen this country's national security."
As written, if any other person would have submitted this travel ban it would have passed.

Sadly, I'm afraid it's going to take something much larger than 9/11 to wake some of these people up. Without restrictions on travel from these terrorists countries, there's no doubt that it will happen. I guess those who are proponents of allowing terrorists to come into our country shouldn't complain when that happens. Sadly, it won't only be them that are affected.
