WASHINGTON (CNN) - While President Donald Trump has been out of the country meeting with foreign leaders on his first official overseas trip, members of his family have been working back home to increase their engagement with the Republican party establishment.

Two of Trump's sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, along with Eric's wife, Lara, held multiple meetings at the Washington office of the Republican National Committee Thursday, a Republican source confirmed to CNN.

The meetings with various White House officials and RNC officials included members of the pro-Trump political group America First Policies -- run by Katie Walsh, who briefly served as Trump's deputy chief of staff -- and RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel...

Trump family members met with GOP leaders to discuss strategy

Their appearance at the RNC irked at least two prominent Republicans who were briefed on the session, who wondered whether it was appropriate for the president’s sons, who run the Trump family real estate business, to be highly involved in discussing the party’s strategy and resources.
Two people familiar with the meeting insisted that the Trump family did not pressure the RNC to follow their suggestions or to let them control aspects of the party. A third person said the family members made clear that they were frustrated with the way, in their view, the president has been drawn into various controversies and want the Republican Party to do what it can to help reignite his political base.

We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we've barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.

I think it's a conflict of interest. They're also stepping on toes.

Since they're running the Trump business, they should be nowhere near policy discussions. Trump whined about "not being able to talk to them for eight years" so asked us just to trust they would not be involved in government business. More lies from Trump- just like paying back profits from foreign businesses and not helping his businesses while in office.

Hope Jared's dad explained how rough it is in jail. Trump would throw him under the bus so fast.

Obviously a party committee will host business leaders and friendly organizations to discuss strategy. Strategies for the future won't affect your governance now.

They probably are discussing that the boys have to think of something to get their father out of the Presidency right now.

Maybe the boys will take over in the interim while daddy dearest takes a little rest. Just for awhile so no need for Pence to take over.

I wouldn't trust those laddies to manage pebbles in a polluted stream.

Though Pence is nothing more than a bobble-head.
