    From CNN:

It is currently unclear how the attacker or attackers entered the parliament building, which is highly fortified, with multiple security checkpoints.Gun ownership is tightly controlled in Iran, meaning those who carried out the attacks on the parliament and the shrine likely had to smuggle their weapons into the country.

The location of the second attack is extremely symbolic, targeting the shrine of the Islamic Republic's founder and first supreme leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. He led the revolution that overthrew the Shah in 1979 and was Iran's leader for 10 years.

    IS has claimed responsibility:

So-called Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Tehran over an encrypted messaging app, saying its fighters had struck both locations.

However, the group provided no evidence to back up its claim.

    Dear ATasteOfHoney,

    I understand what you mean.

Take extra good care of yourself today.

I am heading out for a walk soon to get away from the tv and the news. Finding some balance.

Additionally, moments ago, Iran's Intelligence Ministry said security forces had arrested another "terrorist team" planning a third attack. The attacks took place less than a month after the re-election of President Hassan Rouhani, a moderate who defeated candidates supported by the hardline clergy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). It also took place two days after Gulf nations launched a diplomatic and naval blockade of Qatar for, among other things, financially supporting Iran.
