    WY - Jeff Murphy, 53, Yellowstone Nat'l Park, 7 June 2017

    A missing person search for Jeff Murphy, 53, ofBatavia, Illinois, was launched by Yellowstone Park officials today.

    According to park staff, his last known location was the Rescue Creek trailhead, near Yellowstone’s north entrance, at8 a.m.Wednesday, June 7. Murphy had planned to hike for the day to Turkey Pen Peak, which is about two and a half miles one way.

    Officials are searching for Murphy on foot and by helicopter.

    The articles are several hours old. JM was missing Wed. and Thurs. nights and has not yet been found despite an intense air and ground search.

    Yellowstone staff has stepped up their search for JM. Eight hiking teams, five dog teams, four horse teams, and a helicopter have been dispatched in search of the missing man. Still no sign of him. The trail remains closed while the search continues.

    It's never good when people go missing in the national parks ... so beautiful but dangerous, too. I sure hope they find him quickly.

    Friday, park search crews located the body of Jeff Murphy who was missing near the park’s North Entrance. Mr. Murphy’s death appears to have resulted from a fall on Turkey Pen Peak.
