"A Minnesota man is accused of torturing his baby daughter by rubbing hot sauce in her eyes, throwing fireworks in her face and blocking her airways until she turned blue.

Shawn Michael Foltz, 31, was charged in Moorhead on Friday after the two-month-old's mother took her to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

He had also allegedly burned his daughter with hot water, snapped her in the face with a towel and rubbed cayenne pepper into her eyes."

The abuse is alleged to have occurred between April 10 until May 30

This is absolutely disgusting. How can a father do this to his own baby daughter? Surely the Mother must have seen signs of abuse before finally taking this little girl to the hospital?
 
Every time. Every single time I think I have seen the worst humanity has to offer. Well, along comes a case like this.

When interviewed by police, Foltz admitted to some of the abuse, the newspaper reports, and also said he would think about ways to harm the baby while he was at work

According to police, the infant was taken to the emergency room by her mother on May 31. Police said the baby girl had bruising covering both of her eyes, red discoloration on her back, bruising on her left shoulder, and a red mark on her chest below her chin.


The mother told police the baby was in the care of Foltz the previous night

This is one of those cases where there just are not even words. Grrr.

I don't know when I've ever broke down and wept so quickly as I did reading for the first sentence of this story. I am heartsick. Dear God.
 
He should never be allowed out of prison. While at work, he admitted that he thought of things to do to her. He's a danger to society.

Sounds like this man started abusing this child when she was about 2 weeks old. <modsnip> How many mothers are back at work two weeks after giving birth - April 10 to May 30?

The torture this innocent baby has suffered! I pray she will be all right and not suffer life long disabilities.

My daughter.. No frickin' insurance. We kept her first child til she was two, she and her spouse had alternating shifts, for the second, and worked it out pretty well. <modsnip> from what I read we don't have all of the facts yet and she DID get the child to the hospital. The only one I'm willing to come down on right now is him, <modsnip>
 
None of the reports indicate the mother was involved in or had knowledge of the abuse being visited on the baby by the father.

Until or unless LE give us cause to believe the mother is guilty of anything she will continue to be treated as a victim.

According to court documents obtained by Valley News Live, the man said he would sometimes sit at work and come up with different methods of abusing his daughter, whom he once used as the target of a firework.

Now, Foltz has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to third-degree felony assault of a victim younger than 4, according to WDAY. His now ex-wife Belinda Bailer said in court that she was shocked at how Foltz treated their daughter.

Wow! 30 months? That's all he got?

This is a guy who admitted to thinking of ways to abuse a BABY while he was at work. He is sick, demented, perverse and DANGER TO SOCIETY.

I cannot believe he got 30 months. How?
