Family and friends are frantic after the disappearance of a 36 year old Victoria man.

"He's always calling his dad, he's always calling his sisters, and for him not to respond to none of us is out of the ordinary. We're just concerned and want him home," says his sister Sara Lott.

His name is Antonio Vela Jr. He was last seen leaving Sports on North John Stockbauer Drive around 2 a.m. Thursday.

"Supposedly he was going to stop at a store to get something to eat, but we don't know if he made it to the store or even home after that.

His disappearance is sparking attention on social media and worry within his closest family and friends.

Police say Vela's car was found abandoned on the side of Venglar Road in Inez around 3 p.m. Friday. The case is under investigation.
Meanwhile family members just want to bring Antonio back safely.

Lott says Antonio Vela Jr. was last seen wearing jeans, black shoes with a white Nike check, and a gray T-Shirt.

It seems where his car was found is in an area that is desolate/barren. Imho

The facebook post for this on Missing Pieces says his wallet was found on his garage floor. Has that been confirmed?

Family hosts candlelight vigil year after Victoria man's disappearance

A year after Antonio “TJ” Vela Jr. disappeared, family, friends and community members will gather June 15 where he was last seen for a candlelight vigil.

The vigil is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 15 in the Sports Bar parking lot. His older sister, Natalie Vela Thompson, said she hopes it is a step closer to bringing him home.

“We don’t care what happened or why,” said Vela Thompson, 46, of Goliad. “We want to find him.”

'Just want closure': Son's disappearance weighs heavy on Victoria family 4 years later

[...]
The Vela family marked the fourth year since Antonio “TJ” Vela Jr. disappeared on June 15, but remained hopeful the investigation by police will turn up long-awaited answers despite “a long time” since hearing anything new from investigators, they said.

Vela, who was 36 when he was reported missing, was last seen about 2 a.m. June 15, 2017, in the parking lot of his favorite bar, Sports, in Victoria. The next day, his family began looking for any sign of him and came across his seemingly-abandoned Pontiac Firebird on a rural farm road near Inez, his father, Antonio Vela, said.

Lt. Jason Turner, who oversees similar investigations at the Victoria Police Department, said Vela’s case is “still very actively” being investigated.

However, in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation, no details could be released about the ongoing investigation, he said Monday.

“We know it has been four years, but we continue to work it every day,” Turner said. “We are pursuing every single lead we possibly can, and I’m not using that as a canned response. I’m speaking quite literally.”

This case was covered on the Vanished podcast today. I have to imagine that Antonio’s cell phone data would be significant here, unless he truly did meet random foul play (doubtful in moo) . The phone was recovered. I hope his family is able to some day get the answers they so deserve.
