"Presenter Derk Bolt and cameraman Eugenio Follender were trying to trace the mother of someone adopted by a Dutch couple when they disappeared in the northern region of Catatumbo, close to the border with Venezuela on Saturday.

Dozens of armed militias are active in the region and according to the Colombian army, Bolt and Follender have been taken by guerilla movement ELN."

"
Bolt, 62, has worked for the show Spoorloos (vanished, or without a trace), which tracks down missing friends and relatives, since 1991.

The programme takes him all over the world."

Not entirely sure if this shouldn't be in Up to the Minute or somewhere else, leaving that up to the mods. :)

I'll believe it when I see it... it's also been reported that the ELN said they'd be freed on Wednesday (yesterday). Didn't happen...

But, crossing fingers.

ETA not to doubt you, but newspapers in the NL are reporting "a statement will be released" (by the ELN), instead of "they will be released with a statement".

"Serán liberados" is plural and masculine and refers to the two men.

A statement will be released would be "un comunicado será publicado".

Comunicados are not liberated!

Someone allegedly is having at bad day at Google translate. This happens.

Thanks! Tbh I have more faith in my fellow WSers to get things right than the MSM these days. Hopefully their release will be very soon!

ETA: the newspaper corrected itself now... maybe they read here. ;)

The two Dutch reporters released by ELN_Paz are in good health and have spoken with their families

Let's hope Derk Bolt is indeed in good health. He allegedly needs medication for diabetes. It wasn't mentioned in the press what type of medication, nor his type of diabetes, but depending on the severity of the disease, this might turn ugly soon.

It is not true that Dutch journalists have been received by the humanitarian commission. Their whereabouts are still unknown

RCN Radio first brought the news that they had been released..... :gaah:

Nieuwsuur

The release of Dutch journalists Derk Bolt and Eugenio Follender seemed to be complete. But once again much remains unclear.

Reporter Marc Bessems, in the video: (BTW this is NOT a literal transcript!)

RCN, largest broadcaster here announced 2 hours ago that Bolt and Follender had been released. They even showed a video, but it was unclear who is in it. We could not recognize them.

All sources tell me that they cannot confirm this [the release]

Also ELN on the other side sent a tweet that they had been released, but that is unclear too and no new information has been added to that tweet. ELN has certain communication problems.

Anchor asks if this kind of confusion is habitual in thes kidnappings?

MarcBessems: Local sources tell me that this is unusual, and if you call the officials then nobody wants te answer on record. This may have to do with the fact that foreigners are involved. They won't even confirm what they said off record previously once the news comes out. It is very difficult to find out whom you can trust.

Police in Tibú, close to El Tarra, tell me they are safe, with the police, the bishop and the mayor on their way to Tibú.
