Families of killed officers hold wrenching ceremony as search continues
JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Sobbing uncontrollably, the mother of a police officer whose body is still missing after a Christmas night plunge into a frigid river pleaded for his return during a ceremony Wednesday on the drawbridge from which he fell.
"I want to see him! Please! Momma wants to see him! Where are you? Please come up, I want to see you," Bichvan Nguyen, the mother of Officer Robert Nguyen, shouted from the bridge as relatives supported her under each arm.
Searchers continued to look Wednesday for Robert Nguyen, 30, who is presumed dead. He and Officer Shawn Carson were in an emergency services truck that plummeted 45 feet from the bridge into the Hackensack River in blinding fog and rain Sunday night. Carson's body was found about 90 minutes after the accident.
Relatives of Nguyen and Carson joined member of the Jersey City Police Department on the bridge, which connects Jersey City and Kearny. They affixed a wreath of red, white and blue carnations in the shape of a police patch to one of the bridge's steel girders.

Nguyen's flag-draped body was driven slowly over the bridge as scores of police officers and firefighters stood and saluted.

God bless our law enforcement officers. They truly are heros. I can't tell you how proud I am to be marrying one. Although there are a few bad apples in the bunch---just as Officer Nguyen did, most would risk their lives for us.
God bless his family and our brother in blue.
