President Trump's Mystery Plot of Land in Florida

President Trump owns an undeveloped plot of land that a lingerie photographer gave him 12 years ago in central FL, accessible only by off-road vehicle.

Inside the mysterious lot of land Donald Trump owns in Florida's swamplands

This article linked above in The Guardian says President Trump has owned and paid taxes on a mysterious plot of land in central Florida for the past 12 years.
Laste 60s - Land Services Sebring buys land during a real estate boom with the intention of developing it into a subdivision. The company broke it into plots, sold them, but went bankrupt and never developed the land, causing people who bought the plots to lose money.

Jun 2005 - Lingerie photographer, Nazeema Carrico, buys the land from a man in Ohio in June 2005
Jul 2005 - Nazeema sells the land to Donald Trump for $1.
Early 2017 - Original owner in Ohio dies.
2017 - Reporters discover this an contact Nazeema Carrico (now Nazeema Moonab). She does not return media calls and immediately deletes her social media accounts. When reporters contact her relatives, they hang up or say they no nothing of her.

The nearest house is within sight of it. The residents report no activity there.

Why would this photographer effectively buy a $3,300 plot of land for Trump? Why would Trump even want it? If it's an investment, wouldn't he buy all the plots in the area? Some ideas
    • A way of making a payment from the photographer to Trump under the radar by burying it as a real estate transaction - That's possible, but wouldn't Trump want cash? It's a small enough amount she could have simply given him cash or a check.
    • He wants some rights, e.g. voting rights or something, in that municipality.- Why not just buy it openly then? Why have the photographer buy it first?
    • Evidence of a crime is buried on the property. - Just owning it doesn't stop ATVs or kids wantering around from going through there. It doesn't say there's a fence. And owning it just draws more attention.
    • It's just an oversight in an operation that gets lots of real estate related bills. - Why won't the person who sold it to him talk then?

Does anyone have an idea what's going on here?

    This is so bizarre.

The circumstances of Trumpís acquisition of the land, meanwhile, are equally as bewildering as his reasons for maintaining it for more than a decade. It was effectively gifted to him for $1 in July 2005 by a woman named Nazeema Carrico, who was listed in Palm Beach County records as the owner of a photographic studio specialising in adult lingerie shoots.

Carrico owned the land for only a few weeks, having bought it in June 2005 for $3,300 from a man in Ohio, who died earlier this year.

Trump's weird Florida swampland property once owned by a lingerie photographer

The area was earmarked for development in the 1960s, but the land speculation boom and bust cycle left thousands of plots undeveloped and vacant for decades.

A woman who lives nearby, Clovena Minkah, told The Guardian the area was peaceful.

She lives in the only developed lot in the area.

    Now isn't that interesting,

    We need more speculation.

    Lingerie photographer is a clue.

    But why this land?

Maybe the photographer had the opportunity and bought it at below market value, owed Trump money and sold it to him for a dollar in lieu of her debt. He's just sitting on it paying the taxes because he can. Is kind of interesting though.

Transfer of property on a deed for the cost of $1.00 (sometimes $10.00 also) is very common in Palm Beach County--and I reckon in many Counties across the US.

The most common reason for it is a familial transfer of property; sometimes huge estates. Sometimes it's because a landowner can no longer afford the property taxes.

    Very common.

Yup. Common in families to avoid all kinds of costs.

    Not very common for strangers.

Very common transaction. Family members, business people, etc.

And on a parcel of land valued at a measly $3,300? Ridiculous!

Going with this point against DT is frivolous, imo

do we really know it was transferred for one dollar. Deeds are usually written for a nominal amount phrased something like: "for $10.00 paid and good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged." I have not seen one with $1 but i have never seen many deeds. I just wonder how would anyone know the actual amount paid.

So what was he doing in 2005 that would necessitate having a small plot of swamp land in the middle of FL? What is the connection between the lingerie photographer and Trump?

Very common in Palm Beach County for deeds to say $1.00 (as if $10.00 makes a difference). It doesn't.
The bottom line is the property appraiser will determine the parcel's worth and tax the new owner accordingly.
Zillow & Trulia will automatically assign an estimate of the property's value and it will have nothing to do with the perfunctory $1.00 exchange of property per the deed.
