MCSO investigators say they're focusing in on Mayo's son Nathaniel Sebastian as a suspect.

They believe he was involved in her disappearance.

Burch says Sebastian is avoiding them and not fully cooperating. He lived at the house with Mayo.

Capt. Paul Burch says there hasn't been any activity on Mayo's cellphone or bank account since her disappearance. He says she also hasn't picked up checks from her job. Burch says that leads them to believe she may be dead.

Burch says Mayo lived in the house on Glenwood Way with her son.

Burch says they're currently searching her home for evidence to help figure out what happened and lead them to her body.

MCSO: Son of missing woman interviewed by sheriff's deputies

Captain Paul Burch of the Mobile County Sheriff's Office, said 32 year-old Nathaniel Sebastian was interviewed by sheriff investigators for "quite a while," at the sheriff substation in Theodore.
Yesterday afternoon, sheriff's deputies and the Klass Kids search team looked around Mayo's home and in the woods off Glenwood Way in Wilmer.

Captain Burch says there are "suspicious circumstances" surrounding Mayo's disappearance and he believes foul play is involved.

Sebastian was questioned at the Theodore Sheriff’s Substation beginning about 10 pm Wednesday and was allowed to leave.

There are still no leads on the condition or location of Susan Mayo, who has been missing since June 17. However, a sheriff’s department official on Wednesday said*he fears she may be dead.

‘Odd Family Dynamic’ At Center Of Bizarre Missing Person Case

A missing Alabama woman is feared dead, and authorities say that a strange series of twists has led them to believe that someone close to her knows what happened.

“It’s an odd family dynamic that we’re encountering,” police said. “These are people who live in a very rural, impoverished area. You essentially have to have four-wheel drive just to get there, and they aren’t real law enforcement-friendly.”

A relative reported the 60-year-old woman missing on June 17, but authorities aren’t sure when exactly she disappeared.

Authorities are also unsure about how many children Mayo has, they know for certain she has two sons, but police haven’t been able to get straight answers from the family as to whether she has more than that.

The oldest boy – 32-year-old Nathaniel Sebastian – has become the focus of the investigation in recent weeks.

Sebastian’s relationship with his mother was tumultuous.

“Nathaniel has always lived with mama, both were hot-tempered and would get into arguments frequently.”

Authorities believe the relationship between mother and son deteriorated further in the months leading up to her disappearance.

Sebastian was apparently at odds with the parents of his girlfriend. he’s been involved in at least two altercations with them.

    Article from today: http://www.fox10tv.com/story/3615268...an-feared-dead

Investigators have been searching for her since then and believe that "foul play" is involved.

Investigators say they have some new information that led them back to the area of Glenwood Road in Wilmer.

Captain Paul Burch with the Sheriffs Office says cadaver dogs detected traces of human blood inside a shed.

Investigators spent hours Wednesday combing through every single inch inside to see what other evidence they could uncover..

Mayo lived at the home near this shed with her son and other family members. She has not been seen since June 17, or used her bank account or cell phone.

Officials tell Local 15 that they are focusing on a red shed that is located behind Mayo's house on Glennwood Way in Wilmer.

MCSO Captain Paul Burch says investigators believe Mayo's son, Nathaniel Sebastian, is responsible or has some part in Mayo's disappearance, but no arrests have been made.

Local 15 spoke with Sebastian and he says he believes his mom just left and went somewhere.

"I'm horribly depressed I got these detectives claiming murder when they should be looking for my mother," he said. I love my mother very much and I'm confused as every body else."
