UK London - Enrico Sidoli, 15, drowned 8 July 1976

This case doesn't ring any bells with me, but it was the Year of the Drought for those old enough to remember it.

Does this swimmer hold the key to death of boy 'thrown into Parliament Hill lido' 40 years ago? Photograph of witness and new 40,000 reward could help solve cold case of boy left for dead at outdoor pool in 1976

    • Youngster died after he was 'held under the water' at London pool in 1976
    • No one has ever been arrested over his death despite reports he was attacked
    • Family have now launched new appeal for information about what happened
    • Police have offered 20,000 reward and issued picture of possible key witness

Police today offered a 20,000 reward for information and released a photo of a witness they believe may hold the key to the case.

Various other media sources are reporting the renewed interest in this case.

    And one from last year:

The UK's former current affairs documentary series "World in Action" covered the case on its first anniversary in July 1977. Unfortunately the episode is not available on YouTube.

Here is a blog someone made last year about this case, including details of the investigation and images of archive articles reporting it - https://scepticpeg.wordpress.com/201...enrico-sidoli/

I am very surprised that as part of the reopening of this cold case, the police have not reissued the police sketches of the main suspect that were done back in 1976. By all accounts a witness was able to give a very detailed description of the main suspect. What chance is there of actually jogging people's memories without this vital piece of information.

Thanks for that link. I'd overlooked that blog when searching for information about Enrico. I hadn't realised that he was murdered when the lido was so busy - it's shocking that so many people, including the lifeguards, chose to see nothing. This suggests to me that the boys who killed him were connected to some extremely shady families - almost certainly involved in violent organised crime and racketeering.

The passage of time will hopefully bring forward witnesses who were too frightened to come forward before.

It may not be a case of jogging memories but hoping the passage of time makes witnesses feel safer about coming forward. I would bet my last fiver that many of the people at the lido that day knew perfectly well who killed Enrico.

I agree. Wonder why they don't release the suspects sketch

The sun have now released a much more detailed article with the original photofit from 1976. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/397279...sidoli-murder/ looks very much like the dark haired swimmer they are looking to trace. Strangely the article says they interviewed a 16 year old in 1976 who admitted punching Enrico in the pool. A local gang called the Kentish Town Cowboys have been named as being involved. Surely there is enough information here
