Trump Gave Putin Exactly What He Wanted
    JULY 8, 2017
[…] Mr. Putin has for years — 17 years, to be exact, for this is how long he has been in power — been clear about what he wanted from his relationship with the United States president: He wants to be treated as an equal partner on the world stage and not to be questioned about or pressed on the Russian government’s actions inside Russia or in what he considers his sphere of influence. Despite the friendly tenor of Mr. Putin’s relationship with George W. Bush and the offer of a “reset” made by Barack Obama’s administration, Mr. Putin never achieved his objective — until now. His fourth American president has given him exactly what he wanted: respect, camaraderie and freedom from criticism. […]

"If we can actually have a Russia restart that the last two administrations failed to do, why would anyone have an issue with that," Lahren said.

Fmr. CIA Director Brennan Says Trump ‘Ceded’ Ground to Putin

    by Kailani Koenig

WASHINGTON — Former CIA Director John Brennan said in an exclusive interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he felt President Trump "ceded" ground to Russian President Vladimir Putin on issues concerning his country's interference in the U.S. presidential election.

“I don’t think he demonstrates good negotiating skills when it comes to Mr. Putin,” said Brennan, who led the CIA from 2013 until January of this year.

Brennan brought up Trump’s comments about feeling “honored” to meet Putin on sidelines of the G-20 meeting in Germany Friday. “He said it’s an honor to meet the individual who carried out the assault on our election? To me, it’s a dishonorable thing to say,” he added...

Trump won't refute Putin, says cybersecurity team in works
President tweets about meeting with Russian leader

    By DAN MERICA , CNN

HAMBURG, Germany (CNN) - President Donald Trump, hours after returning from his second foreign trip as president, declined to refute the Russian account of his meeting with Vladimir Putin, leaving their assertion that he accepted the Russian president's denial of 2016 election meddling unchallenged.

And he declared the US and Russia may create "an impenetrable" cybersecurity group that will no doubt raise eyebrows and suspicions from both American and allied intelligence officials and lawmakers.

Putin and Trump met for over two hours Friday on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany...

Senate Republicans including John McCain, Marco Rubio, and Lindsey Graham are blasting Trump over his idea of joint cyber security unit with Russia. Graham Sunday on MTP said, "It's not the dumbest idea I have ever heard but it's pretty close."

Because we can't! Trump thinks he can get away with this snow job. I hope Americans figure out how full of BS he is. Maybe HE can trust Russia and not put himself at risk but he's putting ALL of us at risk. Does he know that and dgaf, or is he just blind to the truth?

Trump backing off of ‘cyber security unit’ with Russia

    Jill Colvin, Associated Press Published 7:34 a.m. ET July 10, 2017 | Updated 7:34 a.m. ET July 10, 2017

Washington — President Donald Trump appears to be backing away from the idea of working with Russia to create a “cyber security unit” to guard against election hacking.

Trump tweeted Sunday morning about discussing such a unit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Yet it’s Russia that U.S. intelligence officials blame for meddling in last year’s election.

Widespread ridicule greeted Trump’s tweet. Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina calls it “pretty close” to the dumbest idea he’s ever heard. A Democratic congressman, Adam Schiff of California, says expecting Russia to be a credible partner in any cybersecurity initiative “would be dangerously naive.”

By Sunday evening, Trump was tweeting a different tune. He wrote that just because he and Putin discussed the idea “doesn’t mean I think it can happen. It can’t.” ...

White House Troubled by Russia Sanctions Bill

by Benjy Sarlin and Leigh Ann Caldwell

WASHINGTON — With the White House facing new developments over the Trump campaign's ties to Russia, Congress is bogged down in a debate over how much authority to give the president to potentially ease sanctions against Moscow.

The Senate passed a bill to sanction both Iran and Russia by an overwhelming 98-2 margin last month, despite concerns from the White House and State Department.

The bill codifies sanctions put in place by President Barack Obama in response to Russia’s 2016 hacking campaign against Democratic officials, which America’s top intelligence agencies have said was ordered by Vladimir Putin to help boost Trump’s campaign...

It is troubling. With the sanctions, Russia cannot access the trillions of dollars worth of oil they want. Boo hoo. But human rights violations are OK!

Reagan moved forward with Russia and it increased stability. That's what it should look like. I'm afraid of what Trump will do with a "moving forward" plan, and even more afraid of what Putin is capable of. I don't think Putin's motivations are friendship and stability.

We would never "move forward" with ISIS or North Korea. That would be ridiculous! But they want us to believe this is different.

U.S. fines Exxon Mobil over Russia sanctions violations

Rex Tillerson was ExxonMobil's chief executive at the time of the dealings. Treasury said in a statement that Exxon under Tillerson’s leadership had shown “reckless disregard” for sanctions that the Obama administration imposed on Russian entities in 2014 over Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

Congress Reaches Deal on Russia Sanctions Bill to Punish Moscow

    by Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats announced Saturday that a bipartisan group of House and Senate negotiators have reached an agreement on a sweeping Russia sanctions package to punish Moscow for meddling in the presidential election and its military aggression in Ukraine and Syria.

Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the No. 2 House Democrat, said lawmakers had settled lingering issues with the bill, which also includes stiff economic penalties against Iran and North Korea. The sanctions targeting Russia, however, have drawn the most attention due to President Donald Trump's persistent push for warmer relations with President Vladimir Putin and ongoing investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 campaign...

    TY for those articles, FR!

    From the Reuters article:

Former Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara was investigating Manafort's real estate dealings before he was fired by Trump in March, and Mueller has now assumed control of that investigation, one of the sources said.
Preet Bharara was investigating several of Trump & Co.'s dirty friends and their dirty dealings, until Trump thought he could wave his magic "you're fired" wand & make it all disappear.

Regarding Preet Bharara's prosecution of Prevezon Holdings in the $230 million Russian tax fraud/money laundering scheme, Trump was partially successful in making that case disappear when AG Sessions settled the case this past May (two days before it was set to go to trial) for a mere $6 million - without an admission of guilt on the part of Prevezon Holdings.

I found an interesting comment about the now infamous Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya: "Ms. Veselnitskaya told one Russian news outlet that the penalty was so light 'it seemed almost an apology from the government' ".

    Apology indeed.

    TY for that article Bette!

It comes as no surprise that the part of the bill Trump objects to is the section that mandates Congressional review if Trump tries to lift sanctions against Russia.

The sooner this bill gets passed, the better.
