JACKSON, Miss. -- The search is over for a missing Jackson woman who said she was held captive by her husband.
Dorothy Bracey, 42, said her husband, John Bracey, tortured her fpr the last week.
Dorothy Bracey, a mother of seven and an employee of the Clarion Ledger, told WAPT her husband needs mental help and she won’t press charges until she can assist him.
She said she and her husband spent the past week hiding out at the homes of his family members, but no one knew he had kidnapped her.
She said he even took her to a graveyard and begin digging -- telling her he was going to bury her alive.
Dorothy Bracey said she was able to escape on Thursday only because the car in which they were riding ran out of gas.
Even though she is free, she said she’s still afraid her husband will come looking for her.
“Yes, he threatened me. He’d rather see me dead than be with anybody else. All the things he did to me? He tried to run me down with a car. He shot at me. He burned me with a cigarette,” said Dorothy Bracey.
Police said if she doesn’t press charges, they can’t look for John Bracey.

John Bracey in Custody
John Bracey is in custody. With the help of the U.S. Marshal's office, the State Department of Corrections located him in Canton just before 3 Thursday afternoon and took him to jail.
If any part of the Dorothy Bracey kidnapping story stood out, it was this: "He had a gun," she told us. "Did he hold it to you?" "Yes. He loved to put it to my head."
Dorothy is back at home and safe after a week with her estranged husband, John Bracey. She says Bracey took her at gunpoint and threatened her more than once. "He shot at me a couple times."
But James Bracey was recently released from prison on a business burglary conviction. That makes him a convicted felon.
MDOC Commissioner Chris Epps said, "If his wife is telling the truth, based on our info. That he had a weapon up to her head, a convicted felon cannot have a weapon."

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

It seems there are some missing pieces to this story. It makes little sense to me from what I have read in these links. I would have to know more before making any comments.
