MA - Remains of FBI Most Wanted Fugitive, Donald Eugene Webb, Found July 2017

Human remains ID'd as suspect wanted in Pa. police chief's 37-year-old unsolved killing

The human remains found buried behind a Massachusetts home have been positively identified as a fugitive suspect wanted in connection to the decades-old, unsolved slaying of a Pennsylvania police chief, authorities said today.
The remains were found buried behind the North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, home of the former wife of alleged killer Donald Eugene Webb, police said.
Webb, who had been among the longest tenured fugitives on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, is alleged to have killed Saxonburg Police Chief Gregory Adams in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, Dec. 4, 1980, after what police believe was a routine traffic stop.
Webb was never apprehended after being charged with first-degree murder, and investigators now believe he died in 1999, according to the FBI. The investigation is ongoing.

The FBI, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts authorities announced Friday the remains have been positively identified as Webb. Investigators believe he died about 17 years ago, but declined to say how.

Prosecutors in both states confirmed to The Associated Press that the ex-wife, Lillian Webb, led authorities to his body and won't be prosecuted in the investigation.

Webb shot and killed Saxonburg police chief Gregory Adams in December of 1980 in what started as a traffic stop.

The FBI released updated wanted photos of the fugitive last month, asking for the public’s help in locating him.

The FBI was offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the whereabouts of, or the location of Webb’s remains, the federal law enforcement agency said in a news release.

A cane was reportedly found in that room, and it is believed Adams was able to shoot Webb in the leg.

Surely they won't give her the $100,000 if she harbored him and knew where he was all this time!! Wonder if that's why she decided to tell them…she saw that the money was being offered and she thought she would get it?

So, he lived in a secret room from 1980-1999? And then died? WHO buried him in the back yard? Did his wife do that? I hope more details come out about this mystery.

Fugitive Donald Eugene Webb died of stroke in 1997, authorities say

Donald Eugene Webb's wife told authorities the fugitive died after two strokes in December 1997 and, as he faced death, asked her to dig a hole to be buried, court records show.

Webb's remains were found last week buried in the backyard of a house in North Dartmouth, MA. He was wanted in the 1980 killing of Saxonburg Police Chief Gregory Adams.

At a press conference Thursday to discuss the case, authorities revealed Adams fought for his life in a half-hour confrontation with Webb.
Less than two weeks ago Lillian agreed to tell all to the FBI and state troopers after they increased pressure on her. That was only after she was granted immunity in Pennsylvania, where the murder occurred, and Massachusetts, where she hid him.

It didn't matter because she didn't do anything wrong in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts law makes it different to prosecute a wife helping a husband.
Lillian said Webb hid out in secret rooms in two houses for about 17 years after he got a severe leg injury on Dec. 4, 1980 while fighting the 31-year-old Adams, a Marine, policeman, husband and father of two. Webb was about 49-years-old and he was planning jewelry burglaries for the Mob-connected Falls River Gang.
