WI - woman foils her attackerin her home, Woodway, 2006
She's not sure why the sport utility vehicle caught her eye on that dark, foggy evening.
Maybe because it was the only other car on the road, or maybe because it looked a little like her own vehicle.
Maybe it was intuition.
The Woodway woman was on her way home Nov. 19 when she spotted the vehicle in front of her. She noticed it turn off and drive up behind her. She drove a little faster and then slowed down.
The driver was following her.
She didn't signal to turn down her street. She stopped for her mail when she noticed that the vehicle was gone. In seconds, however, the vehicle stopped behind her and the driver got out.
The man, a convicted rapist, pounded on the window, telling her to get out. He pulled on the door, threatening to hurt the woman.
The woman, 71, did the right thing, police said.
She fought back.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?
