Paul Manafort finally registered as a Foreign Agent on 6/27/2017

Manafort was serving as Trump's campaign manager when he attended the June 2016 meeting with the Russians. Despite years of working for pro-Russian entities, he never filed required registration as a Foreign Agent until just a few weeks ago!

    This is from Wikipedia:

"Lobbying for foreign countries requires registration with the Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). Manafort did not do so at the time of his lobbying. In April 2017 a Manafort spokesman said Manafort was planning to file the required paperwork; however, according to Associated Press reporters, as of June 2, 2017, Manafort had not yet registered.[8][10] On June 27 he filed to be retroactively registered as a foreign agent.[69] Among other things, he disclosed that he made more than $17 million between 2012 and 2014 working for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine.[70][71]"

"So what should have Donald Trump Jr. done when he received these emails? Not taken the meeting, for starters. And then, he should have turned the emails over to law enforcement. But he didn’t, and now, he and his father are once again trying to convince us that abhorrent behavior is normal.
I heard one response from the bowels of the right-wing internet alleging that the Clinton campaign “did the same thing.” The evidence? A Politico investigation showing the DNC gathered information from a Ukrainian political operative. Conveniently left out, though, is that those efforts were to expose Paul Manafort’s very problematic ties to Russia—information that was released to the public and obtained lawfully by a Ukrainian anti-corruption probe."

"In May 2017, in response to a request of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), Manafort submitted over "300 pages of documents" "included drafts of speeches, calendars and notes from his time on the campaign" to the Committee "related to its investigation of Russian election meddling", according to a source familiar with the Senate probe."

Interesting timing when compared with the Jared "amended filings" and the Trump Jr. revelations.

August 17, 2016 - Associated Press publishes a story about Manafort lobbying for a Ukraine political party despite never having registered as a Foreign Agent.

August 19, 2016 - Manafort "resigns" as Trump's campaign manager

Stories published at this time mention Jared Kushner in particular as being unhappy with Manafort, with Kushner making a statement that he was unhappy with Manafort's job performance.

    -------------------------------
"In another bizarre twist, late last month, hackers broke into Manafort's daughter's iPhone and published four years' worth of purported text messages — roughly 300,000 messages — on the dark web.
In a series of texts reviewed by Business Insider that appear to have been sent by Andrea to her sister, Jessica, in March 2015, Andrea said their father had "no moral or legal compass."

"Don't fool yourself," Andrea wrote to her sister, according to the texts. "That money we have is blood money."

"You know he has killed people in Ukraine? Knowingly," she continued, according to the reviewed texts. "As a tactic to outrage the world and get focus on Ukraine. Remember when there were all those deaths taking place. A while back. About a year ago. Revolts and what not. Do you know whose strategy that was to cause that, to send those people out and get them slaughtered."

In another text to her cousin, who was also her father's business partner, Andrea called Manafort "a sick f---ing tyrant."
