It's believed he committed suicide.

"[Bennington] had six children from his two marriages. He had been married to model Talinda Ann Bentley for 12 years.

Bennington's suicide came on the day of his late friend Chris Cornell's birthday. The Soundgarden rocker killed himself in May by hanging.

Chester, as well as Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson, had performed Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' for the crowd of mourners at Cornell's funeral."

RIP :( :rose:

I hope he had the time of his life"."....GR...GD

I'm devastated. This is one of the bands my now 29 year old son and I enjoyed together. We have tickets for an upcoming concert.

From "In The End"

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

The lyrics to the song "Shadow Of The Day" is very prophetic considering this sad news... I was also a fan... I am at a loss for words..

We seem to be losing so many great artists. So sad [emoji120]

I hope Chester has found happiness and peace. I was shocked and heartbroken to hear what happened. I still don't want to believe it. I grew up listening to him.

It's especially difficult for me to believe that this happened to someone who helped many people around the world with his music. He helped me during some bad days.

It's like Robin Williams. He helped us laugh. I don't understand it... but I guess it's not meant to be understood.

Please seek help if you need it.

If you are a fan of rock music it's becoming painful to hear of all these untimely deaths of musicians from the last 20+ years...Chester, Chris Cornell, Weiland, Layne, Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Brad from Sublime, Dimebag Darrell etc

I wasn't a huge Linkin Park fan, but it seemed like Chester was close to Chris Cornell and it weighed on him heavily. I've never really seen a situation like this before, two friends in different prominent bands take their lives so close together like that.

Dave Grohl gave a really poignant keynote speech at SXSW, I think in 2013. He urged artists to never feel guilty about the work they are creating; even if it's outside their realm and not what's stylistically expected of them.

I know CC impacted Chester greatly, but much of latter Linkin Park work was a bit of a departure from way back in the early 2000s and not as well received. I hope he didn't feel like he wasn't living up to expectations because he was a talented guy.

I would not consider myself a huge Linkin Park fan. I grew up listening to their music though (soundtrack of my teens). Always really liked these guys and their style. Chester's death hit me harder than I expected.
