Lisa Mathiason, a 77-year-old Bakersfield resident, was reported several hours overdue by her husband around 5:15 p.m. Saturday after she had departed for a hike in the Mt. Pinos area of Los Padres National Forest.

Mathiason had departed on the hike from the Chula Vista parking lot around 10 a.m Saturday and was expected to return around noon.

Mathiason was described as 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes. Officials said she may be wearing a white or blue flowered shirt, a white sweater, and white or blue cargo pants with a multi colored backpack.

Authorities said Mathiason was coherent and dehydrated but received no other injuries. She was transported to a Kern County hospital for evaluation, officials said.

Amazing! Welcome home Lisa!

Mathiasen was located at around 9 a.m. north of Inspiration Point. Rescue crews on foot were able to make contact with Mathiasen who had had fallen down the cliff and taken shelter in a ravine.
