Details of Disappearance
Pate was last seen near her family's residence on Crumpler Avenue near The Roxy Club in Unadilla, Georgia at approximately 7:00 p.m. on September 4, 1998. Her family planned to attend a football game that evening and her older sister noticed Pate was missing. The authorities were summoned after Pate's family was unable to locate her later in the night. She has never been seen again.

Authorities have received numerous tips regarding Pate's disappearance, but no solid evidence has been located to guide them to her whereabouts. Investigators explored the possibility that Quentin "Droopy" Kendrick, one of her family's neighbors in 1998, may have been involved in her case. Kendrick was arrested in 2001 and charged with several counts of sexual assault. He resided approximately 300 yards from Pate's home at the time she vanished. A search of his property did not yield any clues as to Pate's whereabouts. Kendrick is not believed to have been involved in her disappearance. Authorities believe that Pate may have been abducted by someone she was familiar with at the time. Her case remains unsolved.

New Lead, Amanda Berry Sparks New Hope for Missing Middle Georgia Girl

...After running across Shy'Kemmia Pates missing person flyer, an Ohio woman called in about her step dad who is a sex offender. She says he told her that he was heading in the vicinity of Unadilla, it was around the same time Shy'Kemmia disappeared.

"This one was taken that Easter before," said Veronica Pate as she went through the three remaining pictures she has of her missing daughter.

Not only did she lose her 8-year-old daughter nearly 15 years ago, she lost just about every picture of her in an apartment fire in 2000.

"I believe in my heart that she is still alive and coming home and I am never going to stop believing that," she said.

After hearing news of the 3 Ohio women being found after a decade, Pate holds hope that day will come for her.

Oh, how I hope this family will find some answers! I remember when this happened and I have always wondered what in the world happened to this little 8-year-old sweetheart, "Shy-Shy". Linked article says she would be 22 now!

Story below is somewhat similar info to what I posted above, but mentioning two other cases as well.

Posting it because this little burst of renewed media attention for Shy-Shy gives an opportunity to perhaps turn some WS eyes toward her case -- it would be so good for a break in this case to come after all this time! This little one received a good bit of area media coverage when she went missing, as I remember, but it doesn't seem that there has been very much discussion of her case on WS.

http://www.41nbc.com/story/d/story/middle-georgia-cold-cases-searching-for-shy-shy/23560/LKyYd_aXF0-jyGyBNzMmlQ

Investigators say as she was walking from her home to a friend's house -- something happened.

"We've got no clue where's she's at. We've got nothing that we can go on at this moment. Every lead that we've had we've tracked it down and it's turned into zero," Lamberth said.

Shy-Shy was gone and no one has seen her since.

Bumping, Shy has been missing for 17 years.

This case has broken my heart. I have tears in my eyes as I type. God be with you Shy Shy.

On September 3, 2016, one day before the 18th anniversary of Shy Shy’s disappearance a 5K run will be held in order to raise money for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and reward money for anyone coming forward with information about Shy Shy.

“I want to keep Shy Shy’s disappearance out there,” said Pate. “Maybe Shy Shy will see it. I want her to know we have never given up the search. We have never given up on her. I will never give up.”

Just one day before the 18th anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance, Veronica Pate joined family and friends in a 5K walk to raise awareness and funds for missing children.

The Rock One Sock Searching For Shy Shy 5K was held on Saturday a testimonial of a family still filled with hope that they will one day be reunited with their missing loved one.

There is a nice picture of Shy Shy's sister & other family at the link, but it includes minors so it couldn't be posted here.

Undilla rapist goes to trial

July 29, 2002

By Mitch Kimbrell

The trial of a Dooly County man accused of attacking and raping three young girls is expected to begin Tuesday.

Quentin "Droopy" Kendrick is charged with multiple counts of rape, kidnapping, burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy and armed robbery. Prosecutors say in addition to raping those three girls, ages 12, 13 and 14, Kendrick tried to rape two others.

Kendrick pled guilty in 1994 to raping a girl while the two were students at Dooly County Middle School.

The 20-year-old faces life in prison without parole if convicted.

Sigh. This man was a neighbor and could very well be the perpetrator. I don't even give a damn if he isn't, he'll rot in hell for his other sins and child victims. My heart really breaks for ShyShy. It's just so sad!

Both of these are long shots. One is a male but I know in earlier ages it can be more difficult to determine gender. The little girl in Bama is highly unlikely but I was just thinking maybe they have the time of death off since it was a full skeleton.

Shy'Kemmia's case is so slept on. The fact that the thread was made in 2006 and just made page 2. Sigh
