I have searched the Doe Network Database for matches of people reported missing in 1990 &1991, Ages 19 to 40. There are some so-so matches but none that jumped out at me.

The sketch is of a beautiful young woman. Problem is the information provided isn't complete. I've tried searching for more information about this Jane Doe and could only find the Doe Network page.

From the beginning I thought the sketch looked a lot like Tammy Lynn Leppert. I've posted this is Tammy Lynn's thread, along with my strong reservations that it isn't her. You can find my reasonings here

I haven't given up searching for this Jane Doe yet, and will post any possible matches I might find.

Gayle on right and left, Jane Doe center

Gayle Marie Marks
Missing since October 18, 1988 from Stockton, San Joaquin County, California
Classification: Endangered Missing

# Vital Statistics Date Of Birth: November 30, 1969
# Age at Time of Disappearance: 18 years old
# Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5'4; 110 pounds
# Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Medium-length blonde, permed hair; blue eyes.
# Clothing: A black skirt, a black knit shirt, a brown scarf tied around her waist, brown high-top shoes and a black leather necklace with silver spheres attached to it.h

1. Jane Doe was found in 1991, but there is no estimated time of death reported. Gayle vanished in 1988

2. Jane Doe is estimated to have been 25-35 when she died... but since we don't know exactly when that was its difficult to identify. If Jane Doe died around 1991 then Gayle would still be young for the estimated age - 18 in 1988, 21 in 1991. Also if the 1991 date is accurate where was Gayle for 3 years?

3. Jane Doe is listed as having BROWN hair. Could it be an error? Gayle's hair is blonde.

4. Jane Doe was found in Needles, California. This is a TriState area which is in California, but is very close to Arizona and Nevada. Its a small place, along the hiway. Although Jane Doe was found there, it is more likely she came from somewhere else. To see map go to:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...991966,2.768555
Gayle disappeared from Stockton, which is about 10 hours away (approx based on google maps).

5. Jane Doe had a long gold necklace on, Gayle was last seen with a black leather necklace with silver spheres attached to it.

6. There is no eye color listed which leads me to wonder in what condition Jane Doe was in when she was found. Is it possible it was omitted by mistake, or did they not know?

7. Gayle is 5'4" and Jane Doe was 5'4".

8. Gayle was 110 pounds, when she disappeared, Jane Doe was estimated to be 150 pounds. This is a big difference! It could be mistake when the data was recorded. Look at the photos of the clothing at the Doe Network though and then decide if the weight seems accurate.

I am confused how they could estimate the weight of Jane Doe, yet not tell the eye color (it is possible, just odd). The data entry for recording missing persons, was not very good in that area for a time, therefore I don't know how accurate it is.

I don't know how they came up with a sketch. Usually sketches are done when the person has only recently died. Sometimes there is a reconstruction done on remains and a sketch is done instead of a sculpture. Its hard to say how much they had to work with from the provided information. If we had an estimated time of death it would be easier to judge.

Conclusion: I am posting this information as I think Gayle does look like the sketch, but the information is too unclear to judge if its a viable match.

Hi
Thankyou.Do you have any newspaper articles on this Jane Doe?

suzanne

No Suzanne I couldn't find anything else on this Jane Doe. Maybe someone else knows something?

Hi

I am still looking for more info but here is what looks like a website set up by her family.
Note: It loads a music file to play in the background and has several pics so it may take a while to load the page if you are on dialup internet.

Comments: I have 4 children of my own and my heart breaks for you and your family. The story of your son is one that should be told and one that we as human beings should all listen to. It is sickening to me that people think they have the right to judge another human being on such an issue. I am truly sorry for the loss of your son. Words quite frankly cannot express that sorrow....my prayers are with you

Note: Not sure what this website entry is talking about but the name popped up in the paragraph: I added the bolding.

Doc thank you for the family's site for Gayle, there is a little more information about her there. There is also a thread, here on websleuths, about Gayle.

However, we are looking for more information on the Jane Doe, to compare to.

Hi
This Jane Doe reminds me of the Jane Doe found in Elko Nevada in 1993.Has anyone ever connected these 2 cases to each other?

1991 Needles California Jane Doe on left
1993 ElKo, Nevada Jane Doe on Right

Link to Elko Nevada Jane Doe http://www.doenetwork.us/cases/125ufnv.html

Other than their death was homicide, their weight and "California look", nothing else matches.

Needles, California is 14 hours away from Elko, Nevada see map link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=needles,+california&daddr=elko,+nevada&btnG=Search
It is possible that someone took her all the way up there, but its odd as there is LOTS of wilderness between the two locations.

Since we don't know how the Needles Jane Doe died, can't link manner of death.

If there is a link between the two cases, I'm not seeing it.

Hi
I am saying they look kind of simialar to me and they were both found not too far from Las vegas Nevada and a few years apart.I believe I remember reading they thought a serial killer may have been involved with the Jane Doe found in Elko Nevada in 1993..There may not be a connection.Just looking. This Jane Doe does look very pretty.I really hope and pray they find out who she is.

suzanne

The two ladies bear a strong resemblance to each other and they were both found near a major interstate (I-40 and I-80 respectively). Jane Doe from Needles was found clothed and Jane Doe from Elko was found nude. I'm not sure if they are connected. One possible scenario, there is an unknown serial killer dumping their victims along western US Interstates.

Man, did that sketch ever give me a start -- she looks just like photos of my mother when she was a young woman.

Thoughts?

Roxanne Saucer Martin
Missing since May 4, 1991 from Winter Park, Florida
https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/3146/
http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1991-05-29/news/9105290513_1_saucer-martin-fairbanks-inn

No missing persons who disappeared before 2001 are listed on the Orange County, Florida Sheriff's Office page at http://www.ocso.com/MissingPersons/tabid/129/Default.aspx.

The UID and Ms. Martin are 5' 4".
The UID weighed 148-150 lb. Ms. Martin weighed 155 lb (Orlando Sentinel article) or 170 lb (NamUs).
The UID was found along I-40 in San Bernardino County, California on May 14, 1991 and is estimated to have died around May 7, 1991. Ms. Martin disappeared from the Fairbanks Inn in Winter Park, Florida around 9:30 pm on May 4, 1991, after leaving with an unknown man who called himself David or Randy.
The UID had brown hair. Ms. Martin's hair is described as red-brown (Orlando Sentinel).
Ms. Martin carried or wore eyeglasses and had a scar on the left arm, neither of which is mentioned in the UID's report.

Ms. Martin's NamUs entry does not list fingerprints, dentals, or DNA, but she was (automatically, it looks like) entered a few years back, so it's possible they exist somewhere.

That looks like a pretty good possibility.

Another point of match: Roxanne is described as wearing a "pint tshirt," which I assume is meant to be "pink."

The trucker she left with is said to be from Texas; May 4 to about May 7 is plenty of time to get across the southern part of the country in a truck.

I found these articles about her disappearance, but nothing after 1992.

I was puzzling over "PINT" for several minutes, don't know why "PINK" didn't occur to me as a possibility.

Don't dismiss the missing from Los Angeles and even further north. Needles is a place where people travel to get further east, especially going towards Texas and the southern states.
