The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a woman who has gone missing under what they said were suspicious circumstances.

Demi Helenius, 23, went missing from a self-help conference in Portland Saturday night, police said.

She was attending the Landmark Worldwide Forum at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Portland over the weekend. The conference day ended at 10 p.m. on Saturday night, but she did not call last night and never returned home.

Helenius lives at home with her parents, and police reported she is “very good about calling and texting when she leaves somewhere.”

She did not attend the conference today and has not contacted her family.

Saturday night, Helenius’ phone was given to a worker at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, Ore., 120 miles south of Portland.

A man passing through the drive-through said he had found it and he hoped the worker would return it to its owner. Police said they were trying to locate him.

If you have seen Helenius or her car, a black 2013 VW bug with Oregon license plate 855-HNH, please contact police at (503) 846-2500.

Hopefully there Is a video of this man handing over the phone.....

This thread should have OR instead of WA as the state. She disappeared in OR. Washington County is west of Portland and she probably lives there. I'll report my post so the title can be changed and get more Oregonians here.

Here is some information about the conference she was attending. It was scheduled for August 4-6 and 8, so there will be one more session Tuesday. It cost $650.

This is a long article from several years ago about Landmark. At that time it was a rigorous program. Some feel it is very controlling. I wonder how Demi reacted to it.

Oops, sorry and Thanks, Lilibet and the mod that fixed the title.

Her profile on a hiking meet-up group. It sounds as if she had already embraced Landmark teachings when she wrote this almost a year ago. She's a member a large variety of 28 other meet-ups.

I haven't found a FB page so far. I hope she's OK, Her parents must be frantic.

Here are posts about her disappearance on FB.

Just curious as to why this man handed it to a drive through employee?! Did she work at DQ?! If so, that's certainly suspicious!
I hope they can track this person down to get some answers!!!

I figured he found the phone on DQ property...maybe spotted it on the ground as he pulled in. If he wasn't local (we don't know) it might have been easier to turn it in there, perhaps thinking it belonged to an employee. I don't think she worked there, since it's quite far from the Portland area. But perhaps she was abducted and taken there. Her hypothetical abductor may have dropped the phone there to keep her from having it or she tossed it like breadcrumbs. If the guy who turned it in is involved, he's pretty stupid! I'd like to know if her car shows up on cameras anywhere. I don't like the looks of this at all!

I absolutely agree with you!! I don't like the looks of it whatsoever! I feel there's a bit more to the story of the phone being turned into DQ--just a gut feeling I have. Especially because in this day & age, the chances of a random person turning in a 'found' cell phone are quite slim--in my opinion!

ALL MOO!! & of course I could be thinking too much into it all as details are limited/vague--both of which cause my mind to wander in many directions! I would LOVE to be wrong!!

Really hoping she's somewhere safe & that she finds her way back home!! [emoji1317]

A bit more details regarding the cell phone.

Demi’s phone was found by a man who gave it to a worker at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, Oregon. There is no explanation why he decided to leave it there. The police are hoping to locate and talk with the man. “After some strange circumstances, Demi’s phone was given to a worker at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, Oregon last night by a man passing through the drive through,” Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office told KOIN news.

Hmm [emoji848]thinking...

I am also wondering if the man who gave the phone to the worker in the drive through was driving DH's car!!
It'd be interesting to know if DQ has cameras in their drive through & if so, if LE has been able to view the footage.

I wonder what "strange circumstances" occurred before he turned in the phone. And where is her car?! I wish we had more information.

ETA: Her parents called the phone multiple times Saturday night and finally a DQ employee answered it. They filed a missing person report in Lane County where the DQ is and asked Washington county LE to help on Sunsay. The car is missing. LE is following up on leads from the Landmark Conference. The investigating sheriff does not know if she attended the conference on Saturday.
