Found Deceased UT - Joseph Weyerman, 81, High Uintas, 14 Aug 2017

Joseph Weyerman, who is in his late 70s or early 80s, had been camping in the area for the last two weeks and was scheduled to return home Wednesday night. Weyerman was last heard from on Monday.

Weyerman is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds, has blue eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and a cowboy hat. Authorities believe he is equipped with a backpack, sleeping bag and some food

Tucker said Weyerman last communicated with his family Monday, two days before he was scheduled to return home. When he didn’t show by late Thursday, family members called police, Tucker said. On Friday, search crews on foot and horseback were joined by a helicopter as they looked for Weyerman.

“We covered all the trails in the area,” Tucker said. “We know where his vehicle is parked and have found his camp, but it doesn’t look like it’s been used for a few days.”

The search will resume Saturday, the news release said, and is not requesting the assistance of volunteers at this time.

“We definitely have a good amount of people,” Tucker said. “We will ask for help when the time is right and before our resources are depleted.”

They don't know his exact age? His family doesn't know? How could they know height and weight but not age? Seems strange.

DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah — Search teams located the body of a missing Vernal man in a remote area of the High Uintas Wilderness area Saturday, and authorities say it appears the man died while attempting to rappel down a cliff.

Search teams found the body of Joseph Weyerman, 81, Saturday evening at the bottom of a cliff north of Reader Lakes after finding his sleeping bag nearby.

Weyerman died when he fell approximately 300 feet while attempting to rappel down a cliff.
