HIALEAH (CBSMiami) — Hialeah Police are trying to find out what happened to a person found in a garbage dump.

Employees of the ‘Waste Connections’ dump found the body in a trash pile on Monday near 4250 NW 37th Court around 11 a.m.

“They found the body picking up the garbage, putting it in the trailer, then they stopped everything,” said witness Mitchell Green.

Police have not been able to confirm the gender of the person and are describing it as “headless.”

UGH....I am glad they found it before too late---I wonder how many of our missing people are rotting in landfill dumps...

Last Friday, Edwin Ramirez-Mejia’s aunt drove from her Miami Beach home to her nephew’s Miami apartment. The two planned to discuss a family-run business in Guatemala, police said.

Instead, they argued, according to police — Ramirez-Mejia’s anger so intense that he cut off his aunt’s head, put it in a bag and threw it and the body in a trash bin outside his apartment.

MIAMI - An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found decapitated at a Hialeah garbage dump.

Workers at Waste Connection found the body Monday and called police.

Edwin Ramirez-Mejia was arrested early Thursday on charges of second-degree murder and abuse of a dead body. According to a Hialeah police report, the victim was Ramirez-Mejia's aunt. She was identified as Silvia Karina Castillo-Castillo.

Police said Ramirez-Mejia told them she agreed to meet with him at his Miami apartment to discuss their business they had together when she fainted and fell to the ground.
Ramirez-Mejia said he couldn't feel a pulse, so he took a large kitchen knife and cut off her head "to hide her identity," the police report said.
