NY - Megan Dix, 33, shot to death, Brockport, 25 Aug 2017 *Arrest*

Police say Dix was eating lunch Friday afternoon in a parking lot on South Avenue, while on break from her job at Lowe's, when Collino shot her in the head with a gun. Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn said the suspect and victim had no previous relationship and Dix was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.


"Megan Dix, a 33-year-old young mother and wife, was senselessly murdered in this random and heinous act of violence," Sheriff O'Flynn said. "As the chief said, this could have been anyone."

According to investigators, 31-year-old Holly Marie Colino of Arizona was arrested Monday night for the murder of Megan Dix last Friday.

"As the suspect was taken into custody, she bolted from the investigators," Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn said during an earlier Tuesday press conference. "And then after a short chase, she was taken back into custody."

A number of strange and disturbing videos posted to YouTube appear to have been made by the suspect in the Brockport murder.

Sheriff's investigators say they are looking into the videos that appear to be linked to Holly Colino. Tuesday afternoon, Colino, age 31, was arraigned on murder and gun charges for the death of 33-year-old Megan Dix.

The videos are rambling and incoherent, filmed in the weeks before the fatal shooting of Megan Dix.

A woman identifying herself as Holly M. Colino rants in the YouTube videos, sometimes talking to herself, other times verbally accosting passers-by.

“I have a license, I’m legal, to kill now,” she says in one video.

Two psychiatrists evaluated Colino and judged her incompetent to stand trial. In court Tuesday, First Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles said the DA's Office was not challenging those conclusions.

Schiano told Colino that the psychiatrists had found her "highly intelligent" but "not competent to stand trial." The reports said Colino is "confused on certain things," Schiano said.

Colino is not scheduled to return to court until August 2018, when her competency will again be discussed. If she is found, through treatment, to be competent before that date, she would return to court earlier and would be prosecuted.

After months of treatment, Holly Colino has been found competent to proceed to trial on a murder charge. State Supreme Court Justice Charles Schiano Jr. issued the ruling during a status hearing Tuesday morning.

Colino, 32, is accused of fatally shooting Orleans County resident Megan Dix, a woman she'd never met, in broad daylight at a Brockport park on Aug. 25.
