71-yr old Yvon Lacasse has been missing since Saturday September 15th.

Then-fugitive Ugo Fredette, who was wanted for kidnapping his 6 year old son Louka but has since been captured, was found driving mister Lacasse's Honda CR-V. Monsieur Lacasse has so far not been found. A Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman said Fredette could have dropped Lacasse off somewhere, but they do not know where that could be or if he did.

Yvon Lacasse
is 1m 67 (5'5") and weighs 155 pounds.

Carried over from Louka Fredette thread:

From this article: the SQ are still looking for Yvon Lacasse, 71, believed to be the owner of one of the vehicles used by UF during his flight.

ETA: Yvon Lacasse is missing. He had the use of (not necessarily the owner of) the Honda that UF was driving when arrested.

Oh good god don't tell me he carjacked and murdered an elderly man?? Why isn't there an alert for this missing man?

Exactly, where is this lovely man, Yvon Lacasse? @sureteduquebec says they'll update later regarding his disappearance.

The authorities are saying the Honda CRV owned by Mr. Lacasse was taken from Lachute so approximately 24 hours ago. After Lachute the suspect travelled to Maniwaki and Rouyn Noranda. There is a hope that Monsieur Lacasse was left in one of those towns but they are populated areas and somebody by know should have seen him if he was merely dropped off there. He is a small man (5.6, 155 lbs) and he is 71 years old. I am really worried for him. Did Ugo have a gun? I am also not pleased with the Surete. I find their urgency and information flow lacking.

Sûreté du Québec‏ are now looking for Yvon Lacasse, 71, was in the car Ugo Fredette stole, Friday, Sept 15, 2017.

SQ said in the live broadcast that they hadn't put out the information on Yvon Lacasse earlier because they were worried about a possible hostage situation & didn't want to endanger him (further).

SQ & the media are reporting on his disappearance and asking the public to BOLO, but at the moment it seems to be overshadowed by the dramatic events surrounding Louka's disappearance & recovery. It's just not getting traction at the moment :(.

IMO, the SQ aren't doing too badly with communications; this all ended up going down REALLY fast this afternoon.

I'm extremely concerned about Yvon Lacasse :(

Well this is not good. Yvon where are you?

This is the SQ official FB page & communiqué about Yvon Lacasse.

NB: FB translated this automatically (without me asking it too!) so the English is a bit dodgy, but the info is there.

I am so happy to read Louka was found safe. Although his nightmare isn't over with the loss of his mommy. And now another innocent bystander still missing... I hope they find M. Lacasse soon and safe...

No new news this morning about Monsieur Lacasse :( He gets brief mentions in some articles.

In the following article, there's a brief mention of the woman who spotted the car in Ontario and called the police. She also then stayed on the line with them while following Fredette until they could get into position:

What angers me is the fact that an old man is missing because of UF and last night i was on the facebook page of ctv news and not one article about Yvon Lacasse,i had to rant on their page, can someone here post an official missing person thread? The man is probably dead in my opinion.

Thank you very much for starting this thread.

I really hope that Ugo tells LE ASAP about M. Lacasse's whereabouts.

That was a very long drive, and a lot of it was through remote, sparsely populated rural areas.

I have a very bad feeling about this :(.

I've also had a bit of a rant at various media outlets who aren't making a big enough deal of this.

Update: still no new news.

ETA: SQ carrying out new searches this morning at & around the rest stop where Ugo Fredette's truck was found yesterday, now looking for Yvon Lacasse.

It's now known that the vehicle (the Honda Fredette was driving at the time of his arrest) was taken from the Lachute rest stop.

Slowly but surely it seems like the word about Monsieur Lacasse being missing is getting out. Nothing new though. I'm very concerned about him. I wish they could make Fredette talk. He knows. :(

The mobile command post has been set up in Lachute near the intersection of routes 158 and 329.

Investigators and canine units are canvassing the municipality as part of a search team, said SQ Lt. Claude Denis. The search team is also using helicopters and all-terrain vehicles to cover more ground.
Lacasse is described as bald with brown eyes. He is five feet four inches tall and weighs around 155 pounds
Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or 1-800-659-4264.

According to my friends & relatives in/near Lachute, there's a huge LE presence at/around the rest stop and the surrounding area.

Lots of "looky-lous" (aka gawkers), and lots of SM chatter.

More than 100 people signing up in groups of 10 to begin helping the SQ with its search. @CTVMontreal

Always nice to see people turning out to help, but I'm so worried about this gentleman.

Ugo needs to tell LE where he is. SMDH

So he carjacked Yvon only yesterday?

So he carjacked Yvon only yesterday?

One (or more) of the reports I've heard/read/seen (possibly on the radio, possibly on TV, possibly on a link posted here) says that Yvon has not been seen/heard from since Thursday evening. I'm sorry not to be more precise :(

IMO, it's quite possible that the carjacking or whatever, happened WAY before 2-3am yesterday when Ugo Fredette's truck was found, possibly even before the Amber Alert went out.

Also IMO, given the time UF was seen peeling away from Veronique's house (~5.35pm Thursday) , he could have been at the Lachute rest stop location in under an hour.

So basically, I'm thinking that whatever happened concerning Yvon Lacasse & his vehicle, happened Thursday in the evening: not long after 6-something pm... JMO, IMO.

Oh NO!! For gas etc, etc, no doubt. I can`t believe it. This is beyond horrible. Was he a psycho masquerading as a victim advocate?

So Yvon may be in Rouyn-Noranda or nearby. Why drive north and come back south again? To dump someone IMO.

I have to bow out for a while - I've just posted "breaking news" on LF's thread.

UF "self-harmed", or "attempted suicide", in his cell. There are conflicting reports :( Links on LF's thread in Located forum.
