RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are looking for a missing woman who may be in danger and may also have information to help solve a Richmond murder. Shatema Smith was last seen by family and friends on Saturday evening.

Police would like to find Smith and ask her about the death of 33-year-old Montez A. Matthews.

Matthews was found dead in his Frank Road home on Monday afternoon.

When Matthews did not show up for work Monday, his brother drove to his south Richmond home to check on him, Crime Insider sources said. He found Matthews shot to death inside the home.

Police are also looking for Matthews' 2007 Mercedes Benz four-door sedan, silver or gray-colored, with VA license plate VXW-7678.

Family said Matthews wore expensive clothes and that all of his clothes and shoes were gone as well.

a black female
5’ 9” tall
133 pounds
multiple tattoos (one of them says “TEMA”) on her right arm and left leg

RICHMOND, Va. -- The family of a murdered Richmond man is thanking police after his missing girlfriend was apprehended in North Carolina Friday morning.

Shatema Smith, the 37-year-old missing woman wanted for questioning in the murder of 33-year-old Montez Matthews, was captured in Wake County, North Carolina.

Police did not release additional information about her capture, but Richmond officials said detectives were headed to the state to interview her.
 
Shatema Smith, 37, was found in Raleigh on Sept. 22, three days after the shooting death of Montez A. Matthews, 33. He was discovered inside his home in the 3300 block of Frank Road around 1:45 p.m. Sept. 19.

After identifying Matthews, police began searching for Smith, who they said was dating Matthews.

She was has been charged with first-degree murder and two firearms offenses.

Matthews' car, a 2007 Mercedes Benz sedan, also was found in North Carolina.
