You know what? They should be running the DNA of unidentified kids through the database they run criminals through. Itís possible to find familial matches that way, right?

It's definitely possible, it would depend on exposure and the conditions... weather - heat doesn't help to preserve a body, scavengers, insects, if the body was wrapped, in water etc.

On average it is anything from 3 months to a year. So that definitely would have been enough time in this case.

The graph that Bit of hope posted is useful.

They aren't allowed to do that without special permission, as far as I know.

It should be run through CODIS http://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/...a-index-system NamUs

    http://www.fbi.gov/services/laborato...dis-statistics

Most states currently do not allow profiles to be checked against offenders/arrestees whisk I think is nuts just considering the sheer numbers and how many people could potentially be identified.

***the one star on his NamUs page made me awfully sad

After reading and viewing this sad story regarding this little four year old boy, I can remember when my son was 4 years old. By that age, he had certainly had his first hair cut, and to me, it was a big deal (with tears for me, etc.). Looking at this photo and the length of his hair, it makes me wonder if this little one was neglected, etc., because you don't normally see children this age with hair that long unless they are neglected (and I emphasize "normally"). If my four year old was missing, I would be a permanent fixture in a police station, IMHO, JMO, MOO.
