Found Deceased KY - John Smith, 38, London 10 Sept 2017

The search is on for a Whitley City man who went missing from a Wal-Mart in London on September 10, 2017, according to London Police.

Investigators say 38-year old John T. Smith, Junior was last seen wearing a grey shirt, blue jeans, a hat and athletic shoes at the store on KY 192.

His wife reported him missing September 17, according to police.

He’s white, 5’9,” 200-pounds with brown eyes and short black hair.

Anyone with information about Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call London Police at 606-878-7004 or 606-878-7000.

A farmer discovered a body around 5:00 p.m. Monday, on private property located off Cox Smith Lane. Medical examiner's confirmed the body belonged to Smith.

"When they brought him over here and turned him over, you could tell he had a gray t-shirt, pair of shorts, socks on. That's all he had on. They found other clothing over there. Money. And some other things," Hart said.

Medical examiner's confirmed the body belonged to Smith. The coroner says Smith had no obvious signs of trauma.

Police say Smith was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans and a hat. Hart said he was still wearing some of that when he was found in the pond.

He told WKYT yesterday he questions how someone could have gotten to his pond, which is on private property surrounded by a gate and barb wire fence.

"But nobody could have ventured in here. There is nobody here to commit suicide. I'm sure there are better and quicker ways to do that. The water is not deep enough to drown in, on this end of the pond," Hart said.
